Self-Esteem and Professional Identity in High School Teachers in the City of Quito

Abstract

Self-esteem is linked to social skills, because interactions must be effective and have an impact on the work environment of each teacher. The objective of this research is to determine if there is a relationship between self-esteem and professional identity in first grade teacher of the city of Quito. The study was a cross-sectional descriptivecorrelational study with non-probabilistic sampling. The population consists of 166 teachers, a self-esteem test of Coopersmith adults SEI and professional identity questionnaire was applied. The results indicate that there is a positive correlation between self-esteem and professional identity and corroborate the hypothesis test in which the value of significance level is <0.05, it can be concluded that the teacher can perform properly in the professional field.
