In this context, this article aims to address the design of closing systems and their interference with the thermal performance of a steel structured building. In this way, the thermal performance of closing systems for a three-story residential building, structured in steel, located in Cachoeira do Campo, Ouro Preto district, MG, is evaluated. Considering the local winter and summer climate, simulations are carried out in EnergyPlus software, of the thermal performance of external closure systems composed of expanded polystyrene (EPS), Exterior Insulation Finishing System (EIFS) and Oriented Strand Board (OSB), comparing them of the performance of ceramic brick masonry. Gypsum plasterboard (GEA) is applied as an internal closure. As the closing systems were not installed, the most viable ones for this building are pointed out, in terms of thermal performance. Among the analyzed closings, it appears that some prove to be better in summer, others in winter. However, it stands out that they reach an adequate regularity in both situations, showing that they are compete with masonry.
