Abstract

Our study investigated the appetizing activity of the leaves of Opilia celtidifolia. The phytochemical study, revealed saponosides, oses and holosides, and mucilages which can be used among the chemical markers for the quality control of leaves of Opilia celtidifolia.

Many polyphenolic constituents exhibited a strong anti-free radical activity of the decoctate, this is in favor of an antioxidant activity beneficial for hepatoprotection.

Daily administration of leaf decocté, at doses of 50 mg / Kg, 100 mg / kg and 200 mg / kg and Opilia celtidifolia decocté orally, for 37 days, caused individual weight gain in rats.

The decocté at a dose of 200 mg / kg caused a decrease in transaminases (ALAT and ASAT) and blood sugar in rats.

There was an increase in water consumption during the test, and an increase in GGT and uric acid.

We therefore recommend to resume this study with the macerated.
