The primary reason for this approach is as follows: the good that is sought to be offered to society through science must basically be given in epistemological terms; and its communication, which is inherent to scientific activity, must satisfy quality criteria, which, in the specific case of article publications, generally validate the adjustment of research to the methodical procedure sanctioned by the community of scientists. Next, the article explores what is meant by scientific quality; how it is controlled is described; the link with the publications of the Engineers; and, finally, it is argued that a peculiar relationship between Open Access and scientific quality highlights the ethical status of this new way of communicating science. Keyphrases: Ingeniería, acceso abierto, calidad científica, ética
