WISSLR 2022
The Western Interdisciplinary Student Symposium on Language Research (WISSLR) grants students of all levels the opportunity to present their research in any discipline of linguistics or language studies. Student conferences are a valuable opportunity for students to not only present their research but also to network with professionals in their field and receive valuable feedback from their peers and superiors.
Submission Guidelines
We are accepting submissions for WISSLR 2022, to be held online on 4th March 2023 (Saturday). Submissions are restricted to one single-authored work OR one co-authored work per individual. Group presenters presenting ONE work are also welcome. The abstract must be submitted online using the EasyChair abstract submission website, which will provide additional instructions. If you have never used EasyChair before, you will need to register. If you are asked for payment for your submission, do not pay, and instead send you abstract to uwo.wisslr@gmail.com. Should you have any problems submitting your abstract through EasyChair, please contact uwo.wisslr@gmail.com

Deadline
The deadline for submission is 7th January 2023. Please note that late submissions will not be considered. International participants are urged to submit their abstracts at the earliest date possible. We plan to notify participants about the outcome of their submission by early February.
Abstract Guidelines
All abstracts should be anonymous and written in English with glosses or translations for words or examples in any other language. Each abstract, including the title and any data in figures or tables, must not exceed 500 words. Data must include interlinear glosses following the Leipzig Glossing Rules. The 500-word abstract should be single-spaced and in a Unicode font no smaller than 11 points, and in .pdf or .doc/.docx format. Abstracts must be submitted electronically via EasyChair
Review Process
Abstracts will be subject to blind reviews with special attention paid to originality, quality, and relevance. Twenty minutes will be assigned for each presentation, to be followed by a ten-minute question-and-answer period. Poster presentations will be scheduled at dedicated times; there shall be no simultaneous oral sessions during the poster presentations.
Invited Speakers
The keynote speaker for WISSLR 2022 will be Dr. Lisa Matthewson, professor and Associate Head in the Linguistics Department at The University of British Columbia. Dr. Matthewson's work is focused on cross-linguistic variation in the semantics and pragmatics, as well as the methodology of semantic fieldwork and endangered language preservation and oral history. Publishing
Presenters will have the opportunity to publish their presentation in an online linguistics journal: Western Papers in Linguistics
