Abstract registration deadline | June 3, 2019 |
Submission deadline | June 23, 2019 |
The annual Bloomsbury Institute Teaching and Learning Conference brings together established and emerging academics, practitioners and policymakers interested in teaching and learning in an education context. We also encourage undergraduate and postgraduate students from our own, and other, institutions to take part through poster or paper presentations, or joint presentations alongside staff.
Our conferences serve as an exploratory platform for sharing ideas, research and experience with professionals from across the higher education sector. Additionally, they offer great opportunities to extend professional networks, forge new collaborations, broaden core expertise and, most importantly, foster reflection on improving current practices of teaching and learning.
The 9th annual Bloomsbury Institute Teaching and Learning Conference is entitled Bridging the Inclusivity Gap. The conference title references an eBook entitled The Inclusivity Gap edited by Karisa Krcmar, who is a confirmed keynote speaker. The conference aims to tease out a variety of reflections on what the inclusivity gap means to various audiences, its implications for the HE sector, and what practical measures have been and are being taken to actively bridge the identified gaps. This conference aims to give these conversations a platform to be shared across the educational community.
Themes to explore include:
- Inclusive curriculum pedagogy
- Inclusive assessment
- Specific learning difficulties
- BAME students in HE
- Widening access and participation
- Mental health challenges
- Commuter students
- Bridging gaps through the student voice
We would like to invite discussions from individuals or groups who are pushing boundaries, innovating and redefining their practices in higher education in these areas.
We encourage educational researchers and practitioners to take part in the call for papers by submitting an abstract by the given dates. Authors of selected abstracts will be invited for a full paper publication in Bloomsbury Institute London Working Paper Series Journal ISSN 2397-5652 (Online) ISSN 2397-7795 (Print).
