SETIB 2021 is a book.
Book Title: Social, Economic and Technological Implications of Blockchain Technology in Healthcare Applications
Series Title: Advances in Smart Healthcare Technologies, CRC Press, Taylor and Francis, USA.
Scope of the Book:
Even though healthcare organizations are becoming more user centered, coordinated and efficient due to employment of various multimedia techniques, data management within such systems demands huge human efforts and faces threat of security breaches. Integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and healthcare mitigates such threats, reduces overall cost and improves the standard of patient care. However, these IoT devices are susceptible to huge range of attacks. Tremendous growth in healthcare treatment techniques and methods led to the emergence of numerous storage and communication problems among vendors (pharmacists, health insurance associates, doctors) and patients. Therefore, security in healthcare applications is of utmost importance. Furthermore, as medical records is a crucial form of healthcare data, online data sharing and storage for cost mitigation hinders the patients privacy to a great extent.
Blockchain is regarded as the most disruptive and revolutionary technology, which will provide protection and secrecy of control system in real time environment. Blockchain technology is capable of tracking, organizing and bearing out communications by storing the data received from numerous devices and forming parties without the need of a federal cloud. Furthermore, blockchain facilitates patient data accessibility and captures patient record and intermediate activity information. However, research in the field of Blockchain is still in a nascent stage. This is evident from the fact that there exist numerous open challenges that restricts the widespread adoption of blockchain in healthcare applications. The aim of this book is to bring together the latest applications and improve the state-of-the-art developments in healthcare sector using blockchain technology. The book aims to bring together the most recent developments, finding, experiences and advances related to blockchain and how it can enhance security, privacy, interoperability and data accessibility in healthcare sector.
