Human evolution has been a remarkable milestone in our universe. We have evolved over ages and seen a lot of disruption in this journey. Human beings have matured and are capable of harnessing the environment to make their life convenient. The ability to adapt and make the best of the natural resources has been a spectacular achievement of humans. However still there are certain aspects of nature which remain unexplored by us. Several decades ago epidemics were a common phenomenon which effected human civilizations economically as well as socially. Millions of lives were lost but the spread of epidemics was limited to some particular geographical boundaries. In the current scenario the society is witnessing a newer term called Pandemic. This is an even critical situation compared to epidemic as its geographical boundaries are not fixed and it spans too quickly. COVID 19 got its origin in late 2019 in China and within a span of 3 months it has affected all countries on the globe. The technological development in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is very exciting and encouraging. Using these techniques we are able to make remarkable predictions and decisions. But during the current outbreak it was experienced that our technological ammunition was helpless to predict and forecast this outbreak well in advance. Though there has been tremendous effort of researchers to make such predictions and explore artificial intelligence to tackle such problems and minimize their impact, but this current pandemic has exposed many open issues. Apart from Socio-economic issues such incidents have a long term impact on the civilizations.Due to COVID 19 the world has come to a halt, there are no flights, no trains,buses, cars and machines running anywhere but still servers and computers have acted as lifeline to let us stay connected. Though some of the countries have been able to defer the outbreak to masses but by and large all the process were hit and trail approaches. In this book, we intend to explore the current state of practice in Healthcare 4.0, roadmap for harnessing the artificial intelligence, machine learning and internet of things and other modern cognitive technologies to aid in dealing with the various aspects of Pandemic outbreak. There is a need to improvise our health care systems with the increased intervention of modern computing and data management platforms to increase the reliability of human processes and life expectancy. There is an urgent need to come up smart IoT based systems which can aid in detection, prevention and cure of these pandemics with precision. There are a lots of challenges associated with all the open issues. The book proposes to provide a new approach to organizing the technological warfare for tackling the Pandemics in future with advances in Healthcare 4.0. Book is an eye opener for the research community to explore the innovative methods and predictive modeling techniques for dealing with sudden disasters. As the impact of COVID 19 is experienced by everyone on this planet, so the book will aid the learners in knowing the various tools to deal with such situation. Though during this pandemic Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning were clueless, we intend to arm them to tackle any such future situation through this book.
The book will be of interest to doctors, epidemiologists, hospital administrators, industry linked to medical equipment, government bodies involved in policy making. It will specifically attract students and researchers working on Bio Informatics, Bio Technology and Bio Medical Engineering. Students doing research on Medical Healthcare analytics, Artificial intelligence and predictive modeling may find useful inferences from the topics covered in this book. The book may be used as a text book or reference book for students taking Undergraduate level courses on Bio Informatics, Bio Technology and Disaster Management. It will provide a roadmap to deal with emergency health situations affecting masses at a very fast rate. Submission Guidelines
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before 31st May, 2020, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by 1st July, 2020 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by 31st August, 2020 and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at http://www.scrivenerpublishing.com/guidelines.php prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
