Rationale
The Marinduque State College - Science and Technology Regional Conference is biannually conducted as an avenue for the faculty researchers, extensionists, and students of MSC and other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)/State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) within the region and other stakeholders from the different government agencies and NGOs to evaluate all their technological breakthroughs, development and extension projects.
Theme: “Sustainable RDE Productivity amidst Pandemic: Resilience and Recovery”
Objectives
- To showcase new techniques, technologies, and innovations developed by the College, other HEIs/SUCs, and other government agencies and NGOs catalyzed by the Covid-19;
- To showcase different perspectives about the effect of “New Normal” in the social and scientific development;
- To understand the strategic importance of the research and technology in the adaptation and recovery from Covid-19
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Abstract - The abstract shall be limited to 300 words and typewritten in the same format as the paper (margins, font size, font style, etc.) Submissions shall be uploaded to this platform before June 11, 2021. The submitted abstract will be evaluated by a Technical Review Committee. You will be notified thru email if your abstract is accepted.
- Full papers - The template for the full manuscript could be download here. Your full paper will be review by the designated Panels. A review result will be sent together with the notification of acceptance thru the email of the author whose abstract and full paper passed the evaluation.
- Presentation - The presentation will be conducted online, please read and follow the presentation guidelines which could be download here.

Guidelines for the Presentation
- There will be a panel of evaluators who will evaluate the R&D projects being presented. The panel will be composed of representatives from various research and extension-oriented agencies/institutions in/outside the province.
- The video presentation will be limited to a maximum of 10 minutes that will be played by the assigned technical staff. The presenter will be given 5 minutes for the Q&A and must be present at the conference to answer the questions.
- The Best Papers in the different categories will be selected based on the following criteria
Problem Definition and Methodology (20%)
- Statement of the research problem, the objectives, and the significance of the research should be clearly stated.
- Use of a research methodology appropriate to the objectives of the research.
Theoretical/Conceptual Framework (20%)
- A discerning selection of the relevant, current, and related literature (primary references e.g. journal articles)
Results and Conclusion (30%)
- Results and analysis address the research problem and objectives.
- The research paper provides new insights and discusses implications of the results with reference to the significance of the research
Research Paper Oral presentation (15%)
- Clarity of presentation with appropriate visual aids.
- A thorough presentation of the highlights of the research within the prescribed time limit.
- Ability to respond to the questions or points of clarification by the panel or the audience.
- Participation of extension cooperators/recipients inappropriate technology generation (negotiated expectations and objectives, recognition of local knowledge and cultural practices). (25%)
- Promotion of sustainable practice (introduction of a variety of research-based methods and materials – preferably SUC - generated). (20%)
- Adherence to the extension project management cycle (e.g. extension project design/planning-> implementation -> evaluation -> modification of project design) (20%)
- Prudent use of budget/funds but not sacrificing effective and efficient implementation of the extension project. (15%)
- Ability to draw external recognition (e.g. awards, external funding). (10%)
- Project implementation documentation. (10%)
Awards & Certificates
- All presenters will receive a Certificate of Participation/Presentation.
- Awards and incentives will be given to the presenters who will gain the highest rating based on the criteria given above.
- Best Paper Award per AREA - Php 3,000.00
- Best Extension Project Award - Php 3,000.00
Publication
MSC-SciTechCon2021 proceedings will be published in EasyChair while the selected paper will be published in the MSC Journal 2021.
