IS²TEM 2027 is the inaugural conference that brings together two established conference communities — the International Science Education Conference (ISEC, since 2006) and the International STEM Education Conference (ISTEM-ED, since 2024) — in a single forum.
The International Science and STEM Education (IS²TEM) Conference 2027 is organised by the Natural Sciences and Science Education Academic Department (NSSE), National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, together with the Multi-centric Education, Research and Industry Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre at NIE (meriSTEM@NIE).
Submission Guidelines
We invite presentations on the theme of Converging Pathways to a NASCENT Era: Navigating Advancements, Supporting Communities and Empowering New Trends in Science and STEM Education, in the form of an individual paper, a poster, or a symposium, under one of the following strands/topics in science and STEM education
The abstract should be between 400-500 words in length and include the goals and significance, methodology, findings and discussion, and implication of the findings. The abstract will be peer-reviewed based on the quality of the writing and research, and whether it is of interest to the IS²TEM audience.
All papers must be written and presented in English, be original, and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome.
Individual paper (25 minutes)
- The paper is presented by an individual author or co-authors.
- Each presentation is allocated 20 minutes and there will be 5 minutes of Q&A.
- Typically, three individual paper presentations belonging to the same strand, are grouped together in one 90-minute concurrent session.
Symposium (80 minutes)
- The symposium is presented by multiple authors or co-author groups. Each 80-minute symposium comprises 3 or 4 presentations.
- In addition to the abstracts for the individual presentations, the symposium proposal should include one 400-500 words integrative statement describing the overall theme of the symposium and connections between the presentations.

Poster
- A single author or group of co-authors may prepare a poster for an interactive session.
- Handouts may be prepared for dissemination to interested audiences.

Publication
Accepted authors may optionally submit Full Papers and to be considered for the Best Paper Awards. Full Papers submitted to IS2TEM Conference 2027 Singapore will be published in Conference Proceedings with an ISBN number. More information in the Call for Papers page on the conference website.
Venue
The conference will be held at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Full-time student in a graduate programme affiliated to a university or a research institute may apply for limited Travel Awards to present their work at the conference. Terms and conditions apply.
