On behalf of the IREP International Steering Committee and the Local Organizing Committee, it’s our pleasure to invite you to the 11th Bulk Power Systems Dynamics and Control Symposium – IREP’2022 in Banff from July 25th to the 30th, 2022, conveniently scheduled right after the IEEE PES GM in Denver, with relatively short flights to Calgary. The Conference is organized by the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) of the University of Waterloo and the University of Calgary.
The series of Bulk Power Systems Dynamics and Control Symposia was established by the late Les Fink in 1988 and is managed since 1994 by the International Institute of Research and Education in Power System Dynamics (IREP). IREP’2022 will continue the outstanding and proud tradition, albeit delayed by the unfortunate and challenging world health crisis of the past 2 years, of previous and truly special meetings at Potosi (1988), Deep Creek Lake (1991), Davos (1994), Santorini (1998), Onomichi (2001), Cortina D´Ampezzo (2004), Charleston (2007), Buzios (2010), Rethymnon (2013), and Espinho (2017).
Attendees to IREP’2022 from all over the world will have the opportunity to share their research work with a prominent technical audience, providing a venue for friendly and in-depth technical discussions of the presented work, which is a very unique characteristic and tradition of IREP symposia. The timely and relevant theme of the Banff Symposium will be “A 100% Renewable Energy Source Bulk Power Grid: Opportunities and Challenges.” As with previous meetings and as part of IREP’s custom, there will also be many opportunities for distinctive social engagements and interactions amidst the exceptional and beautiful settings of the Canadian Rockies.
List of Topics
The Focal Theme of this Symposium is:
“A 100% Renewable Energy Source Bulk Power Grid: Opportunities and Challenges”
The Topics of interest include:
-
Renewable Energy Sources (RES) impact and integration on bulk power systems.
-
Distributed Energy Resources (DER) impact and integration on bulk power systems.
-
Energy Storage Systems (ESS) impact and integration on bulk power systems.
-
Demand Response (DR) impact and integration on bulk power systems.
-
Grids of microgrids.
-
Communications, cybersecurity, and data analytics applied to RES and DER integration.
-
Prosumers roles on RES and DER integration.
