Inbix'20 goes virtual!
Bioclues.org, India's largest Bioinformatics society enters 15 years in service when the organization has set up vision 2020 in 2015. The society has organized her debut onsite Inbix'17 conference in Jaipur during November 2017 and Inbix'19 in HMV, Jalandhar which were a huge success. Keeping in purview of the conference series, the next conference which was to be held on site at North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, Meghalaya in April has been considered as a virtual organization. We, the Indian Conference on Bioinformatics 2020 (Inbix'20) organizers hope this opportunity will not only foster interactions and collaborations among practitioners but will also allow young researchers interact with the world leaders, who are among the top researchers in the bioinformatics and computational biology. While we spur on this annual event, the organizers welcome all bioinformaticists across the world to take part in this august conference.
This year's theme
Recent advances in computational biology for codifying Biodiversity into one health approach: Biodiversity, Climate change, One health and Zoonotic diseases

Preconference workshops
All Inbix Life Members attend free!
Workshop#1: December 1, 2020. 10 AM-1 PM : APPLICATIONS OF MACHINE LEARNING AND DEEP LEARNING IN PROTEIN AND GENE FUNCTION IDENTIFICATION: Jayaraman K Valadi, PhD and Divye Singh, FLAME University, Pune . Registrations CLOSED
With the sequencing of novel genomes, efficient methodologies for identification of protein and Gene functions are necessary. In this workshop, we plan to provide an overview of important machine learning based techniques. In particular, we will cover KNN, Support Vector Machines and Random Forests in detail. While Support Vector Machines is rigorously based on statistical learning theory, Random Forests algorithms is an efficient ensemble based method in. In addition, a large focus would be on informative attribute selection methods. With the advent of massively parallel high throughput methods to conduct biological experiments such as DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, transcriptome analysis, MS, micro-array analysis and etc overwhelming volumes of biological data is being generated and accumulated in an accelerated pace. This deluge of biological data could only be handled by developing effective and efficient computational pipelines. Deep learning which has recently become an immensely popular tool for handling biological data is one such technique which has immense potential. We will provide a lucid and easy to understand tutorial on the use of deep learning techniques in bioinformatics. While the workshop is designed to to address beginners, rigours of the algorithms will be explained in great detail.
Workshop 2# December 1, 2020. Starts 3 PM : Recommender Systems: Amita Sharma, PhD., and Harshita Bhargava ( PhD). Registrations CLOSED
Workshop 3# December 2-3, 2020. 10 AM to 6 PM : Next Generation Sequencing and Systems Genomics: Prash Suravajhala, PhD., Ashwani Mishra (PhD), Tiratharaj Singh, PhD, Ankita Kumari, M.Sc., Ayam Gupta, PhD fellow and Shalini Rajagopal, PhD fellow. Registrations CLOSED
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. For reviews, you may skip material and methods, results and discussions. The following paper categories are welcome:
-
Abstracts/Poster Stubs/presentations: All abstracts intended for oral presentations are welcome with a detailed summary of no less than 2 pages. The extended abstract must contain the following sub-heads: Rationale/Motivation, Objectives, Materials and Methods, Results anAfter Aprild Discussion, Conclusions. Select abstracts will be invited for full length paper submission. CLOSED
-
Ideation challenge: Innovative Computational Biology solutions for addressing Biodiversity loss: Controlling public health risk of disease spread from epidemic to pandemic" The solver could come up with a NO more than TWO page proposal addressing the concerns given a strong rationale, limitations and possible outcomes generating from the solution. For example, the solver can throw light on AI mediated solution in addressing such concerns, it should be realistic and accountable for practice. A pictorial graph would weigh better winning possibility and attendance for Inbix'20. Please submit your solution through easychair on or before December 1, 2020. The best solver would eitehr get a waiver for registration or a travel grant equivalent for future conferences. CLOSED
-
Tutorial/workshop: Proposals are invited from researchers across sub-domains of bioinformatics. The taught programme should detail the target audience, duration (maximum 3 hours) and the prerequisites. CLOSED
-
Video Abstracts: A novel way of describing your research. The video abstract muct concisely describe your work in no less than 3 minutes. Please hash tag #inbix2020 your abstract to the Inbix Vimeo group and submit your abstract through easy chair. OPEN
-
Elevator pitch: All participants will be encouraged to introduce their project in 30 seconds each. OPEN
Very important: All authors are requested to follow strict guidelines/format whence submitting their papers. All papers must be submitted through easychair.
