Call for Papers — Asia and Oceania Open Session
Theme: "Sharing our stories: libraries in Asia and Oceania supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)"
Many projects and activities have been carried out by libraries throughout the world to help achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. In line with this year’s WLIC theme of Inspire, Engage, Enable, Connect, the IFLA Regional Section for Asia Oceania invites proposals for presentations on how libraries in Asia and Oceania are supporting the SDGs. Author(s) are invited to share case studies, research projects or activities implemented by libraries or in partnership with libraries, addressing community needs and making significant impact on community life at local, regional or national level.

Submission
- 1. Title of proposed presentation.
- 2. All submissions must be written in the English language.
- 3. The proposal must be the original work of the author(s).
- 4. Papers must be original submissions not presented or published elsewhere (IFLA rule).
- 5. Abstract of not more than 500 words with 3 to 4 keywords and with full author(s) details:
- – Name
– Institution
– Email
– Brief biographical note
- – Name
- 6. The full paper should not be more than 4,000 words, single-spaced in Times New Roman 12 point.
- 7. Both abstracts and full papers should be submitted as a MSWord file through EasyChair: https://easychair.org/cfp/iflawlic2020aoos

Content of Abstracts
Informative abstracts (500 words) should be prepared following the template provided below. Abbreviated abstracts or late submissions will not be considered. Members of the Asia & Oceania Programme Sub-Committee will blind review each abstract against criteria which include innovative content, topical relevance, regional interest, clarity of exposition, originality and overall quality.
Purpose of this paper | What are the reason(s) for writing the paper (or the aims of the research)? |
Theme | How does it relate to the theme of the session? |
Design, methodology, approach | How are the objectives achieved? Include the main method(s) used for the study. What is the approach to the topic, and what is the theoretical or subject scope of the paper? |
Findings | What was found in the course of the work? This will refer to analysis, discussion, results or impact. |
Research limitations and implications
(if applicable) |
If the paper reports on research, this section must be completed. It should include suggestions for future research and any identified limitations in the research process. |
Practical implications
(if applicable) |
What outcomes and implications for practice, applications and consequences are identified? All papers should have practical applications. What changes to practice might be made as a result of this research/paper? |
Originality | What is new in the paper? State the value of the paper and to whom. |
Presentation of Accepted Papers
- There will be five presentations of 10 minutes each for the Open Session.
- The presenter (who need not be the author) must be fluent in English.
- Presenters should not read their full written paper.
- A 50-minute discussion will be held using the banquet style after the presentations.
Important Deadlines
28 February 2020: Deadline for submission of abstracts:
15 April 2020: Notification of acceptance.
(Due to the large number of submissions that are received; only the successful presenters will be notified).
15 June 2020: Submission of full paper

Please note:
At least one of the paper’s authors must be present to deliver a summary of the paper during the program in Dublin. Abstracts should only be submitted with the understanding that the expenses of attending the conference will be the responsibility of the author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers.
The paper must be an original submission not presented or published elsewhere. All papers that are presented at the WLIC 2020 will be made available online via the IFLA Library under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.
Authors of accepted papers must complete the IFLA Authors’ Permission Form.
All expenses, including registration for the conference, travel, accommodation etc., are the responsibility of the authors/presenters. No financial support can be provided by IFLA, but a special invitation letter can be issued to author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers.
