International Conference for Information & Communication Technologies for Organization & Society 2026
Technologies for a Better World: Navigating Research and Innovation in Times of Turbulence
Hosted by Burgundy School of Business (BSB) — Dijon, France
1–4 December 2026 — Dijon, France
Submission
We live in an era of profound and multidimensional turbulence. Health, economic, social, and environmental crises are occurring in rapid succession and becoming increasingly intertwined, disrupting organizations, markets, and individuals. In this context of instability, information and communication technologies (ICT), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and automated systems are no longer mere performance tools: they are becoming potential vectors of resilience, social transformation, and human progress.
The world’s current crises vividly illustrate the ambivalent role of technology: on the one hand, it can intensify tensions, misunderstandings, and inequalities, particularly through the digital divide; on the other hand, it can provide innovative tools to preserve social bonds, support entrepreneurs, and ensure organizational continuity. Similarly, the rise of AI creates unprecedented opportunities to empower consumers and citizens, while also raising profound ethical concerns about human agency, algorithmic bias, and social responsibility.
Information systems (IS) must today adapt to a world in constant transformation. The notion of digital resilience is emerging as a central framework for understanding how IS can help organizations and societies absorb exogenous shocks, adapt, and rebuild in a more equitable and sustainable manner.
Building on the tradition established by previous editions — most recently the 2025 edition hosted by Excelia Business School in La Rochelle, which welcomed Professor William DeLone, co-author of the DeLone & McLean IS Success Model — ICTO 2026 invites researchers, practitioners, and decision-makers to explore how technologies can contribute to a better world, in a context characterized by uncertainty, complexity, and turbulence. The next edition will be hosted in Dijon by Burgundy School of Business (BSB), a triple-accredited institution (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS).
ICTO 2026 aims to:
• Explore how emerging technologies (AI, IoT, blockchain, metaverse, automation) can respond to major societal and environmental challenges
• Question the ethical, social, and organizational conditions under which technology genuinely produces a positive impact
• Analyze the role of information systems in supporting entrepreneurs, SMEs, and vulnerable organizations in times of crisis
• Develop theoretical and practical frameworks for responsible and inclusive technology design
• Foster interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers in information systems, management, marketing, economics, psychology, and social sciences
Guidelines
In view of the conference timeline, ICTO 2026 invites the submission of extended abstracts. Authors of accepted abstracts will present their work during the parallel sessions and will be invited to develop their contribution into a full paper for consideration by partner journals after the conference.
Element | Requirement |
Submission type | Extended abstract (presentation proposal) (full papers are also welcomed) |
Length | 2,000–2,500 words, excluding references |
Suggested structure | Purpose and research question; theoretical background; methodology; (expected or preliminary) findings; contribution and implications |
Format | Anonymized; PDF or Word; single-spaced, 12-point font |
Language | English (main conference language); contributions in French are also welcome |
Platform | Submitted via the EasyChair platform |
• A short summary of no more than 150 words should accompany the extended abstract.
• All submissions undergo double-blind peer review and must therefore be anonymized.
• Accepted abstracts will be included in the conference book of abstracts.
The best contributions will be invited to develop full papers for fast-track consideration by partner journals, including Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), with which the series maintains a close relationship, alongside additional partner journals to be confirmed. A dedicated “Meet the Editors” session will support authors throughout this process.
