Csound – Call for contributions
We are currently accepting submissions of papers, music, installations, workshops, and round tables encompassing all aspects of Csound.
Call for Papers
We encourage the submission of papers covering a wide range of subjects related to Csound. The areas of interest encompass, but are not restricted to, the following:
- Exploring Csound's educational potential
- Innovations in sound synthesis and processing techniques
- Introduction of new Csound features and opcodes
- Development of fresh interfaces, front ends, and development environments for Csound
- Real-time implementation of Csound
- Utilizing Csound on embedded systems
- Live coding utilizing Csound
- Performer skills in Live-electronics
- Integration of Csound into web-based applications
- Algorithmic composition with Csound
- Unleashing creativity and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations through Csound projects
Submissions and guidelines
All papers are to be submitted using the EasyChair conference system and will undergo a double-blind peer-review process conducted by a qualified papers review committee.
The maximum length for papers is four pages, including the abstract, figures, tables, and references.
To ensure a fair double-blind peer-review, manuscripts should not contain the names or affiliations of the authors.
Templates
Manuscripts should be prepared using the provided template, which also includes detailed formatting guidelines.
Preferred options: LaTeX template and document class file
Alternate option: Open Document Text template and fonts

Call for Music
Pieces are welcome in all styles, created using Csound. All pieces will be reviewed in a double-blind process by a qualified music review committee.
Submissions will be accepted in the following categories:
- electronic music on fixed medium
- Live-electronics
- mixed pieces for instrument(s) and electronics
- electronic music with a visual component
Overall, a 21-speaker (+2 subwoofer) system is available. Standard configurations are provided, such as: a stereo 2.1 system, and an octophonic 8.1 system distributed in a regular octagon. In the case of other channel configurations, please prepare your project for 21.2 channels and find more details about the sound system below:

- 1-8: Ring of eight (d&b max2) clockwise, starting central front, elevation 1.85 m
- 9-16: Ring of eight (d&b max2) clockwise, starting front left, elevation 4.30 m

- 21: one (d&b XS 8s), index 21 top central, elevation 7.50 m
- 23+24: two subwoofers (d&b B4), front left+right, elevation 0m

- Allen&Heath dLive S5000: 8 analog ins (XLR), 8 analog outs (XLR), 2 AES EBU IO, 2 x MADI IO, Dante IO
- Allen&Heath Mixrack DM32 at frontal loudspeaker position 1:32 analog ins (XLR), 32 analog outs (XLR)
- Fixed sampling rate for digital IO: 48 kHz

Submissions and Guidelines
Multiple pieces can be submitted by individuals, but only one piece per author will be accepted.
Please note that while the maximum duration for music submissions is 11 minutes, shorter pieces may have a better chance of being accepted. Submissions in these categories should be compatible with one of the three described setups; other loudspeaker layouts will not be available.
For pieces involving live performance, programming can only be arranged if the composer(s) provide the necessary performers.

Call for Installations
Sound installations and site-specific sound art are very welcomed. We have a variety of mostly open captivating spaces available, that may be suitable for your Installations. If you have specific questions about the available spaces, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Submissions and Guidelines
Proposals for sound installations have no predetermined limitations regarding duration or required sound systems. However, their acceptance will depend on their feasibility.

Call for Workshops and Round Tables
If you have an idea for a workshop, whether it is software or hardware-based, we would be delighted to hear about it. The IWK at mdw offers excellent facilities that can accommodate a variety of workshops. If you have specific questions regarding the facilities, please feel free to reach out to us.
