The International Choice Modelling Conference (ICMC) brings together leading researchers and practitioners from across the world and across different areas of study, including but not limited to transport studies, marketing decision making, environmental valuation, and health economics. The aim of the conference is to review recent advances in knowledge and understanding in methodology as well as real world applications of choice models and stated choice and revealed preference survey techniques.
After two UK conferences in 2009 & 2011, followed by Sydney, Australia, in 2013, Austin, Texas, USA, in 2015, Cape Town, South Africa, in 2017, and Kobe, Japan, in 2019, the ICMC steering committee is pleased to bring the conference to Reykjavik, Iceland, from 23 to 25 May 2022. The 2022 conference will be co-chaired by Stephane Hess and Erlend Dancke Sandorf.
Submission Guidelines
Papers for presentation at the conference will be selected on the basis of extended abstracts (800-1000 words). Interested authors should submit their abstracts electronically by 30 November 2021.
Abstracts should be detailed enough to provide adequate information on the motivation, the uniqueness of the work, the data and analysis methods, application potential and policy relevance, and obtained or anticipated results.
Only a single presentation per speaker will be permitted. Multiple submissions involving the same authors are allowed, but at the decision stage, authors will be asked to confirm speaker details.
List of Topics
In line with ICMC tradition, we welcome both theoretical and applied contributions, where for both, the emphasis is on novelty. In addition, given the cross-disciplinary nature of ICMC, authors are invited to highlight any cross-cutting appeal of their contribution.
Key topics:
- Theoretical contributions to choice modelling
- Novel applications
- New opportunities and approaches in real-world (revealed preference) data sources for choice modelling
- Stated choice design techniques
In addition to the above long-standing topics, contributions are especially welcome on:
- Modelling behaviour in a pandemic and post-pandemic world
- Modelling behaviour and behavioural adaptation in the face of environmental crisis
- Building bridges between choice modelling, psychology and machine learning
Publication
Selected ICMC2022 papers will be reviewed further for publication in special issues of the Journal of Choice Modelling.
Venue
The conference will be held at Harpa, one of Reykjavík’s most striking landmarks and a centre of cultural and social life in the very heart of the city.
