Delta conferences have been held every two years since the first one at Brisbane, Australia in 1997. These Southern Hemisphere symposia have also been held in South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, and Brazil. In November 2021, Delta will be hosted (virtually) in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Delta attracts an international audience of academics interested in undergraduate mathematics and statistics education, including disciplinary specialists, education theorists, and tertiary education practitioners across sciences and engineering.
Due to the uncertainties surrounding the corona virus (COVID-19) as it continues to threaten many countries in the world, and disrupts international air travel, this conference will be online. As a consequence, the dates for the Herenga Delta Conference originally scheduled for 21 – 26 November 2021 at Te Whare Wānanga o Tāmaki Makaurau, The University of Auckland, will now be from 22 – 25 November 2021 as a virtual event. Presentations will be made online via video conferencing.
The word herenga in Te Reo Māori has several connotations; in this conference, herenga refers to a mooring place where people have come from afar to share their knowledge and to stimulate discussion in the Delta tradition. Accordingly, the Herenga Delta 2021 Conference Organizing Committee looks forward to your virtual participation at this 13th Delta Conference with engaging presentations, open dialogue, and networking to promote quality mathematics and statistics undergraduate education.
