Book Title: Grid-Forming Power Inverters: Control and Applications
Synopsis
The fast growth in the global electricity demand and the need to utilize environment-friendly energy resources are accelerating the advancements in power electronic systems and their implementations in modern energy systems. As a sequence, there is a substantial annual increase in the number of distributed power generations (DPGs) that are being installed on the demand side. Additionally, clustering of small-scale generation units can form microgrids to provide reliable and optimal integration of inverter-based DPGs, as they can be operated whether in grid-connected or islanded modes utilizing what so-called Grid-forming inverters. In this context, Grid-forming inverters are being seen as the key enabling technology for future power electronics-dominated power systems.
This book aims to provide a comprehensive overview and a practical guide to grid-forming inverters. The book will discuss the recent associated challenges in integrating of inverter-based resources (e.g., low inertia systems, hosting capacity limitations of the existing power systems, and weak grids). Then, the book will cover the detailed topologies, various control methods (VSG, droop, VOC, ...etc), operation principles, recent development in control techniques, and the stability of grid-forming inverters. Finally, related grid codes and projects from around the world, that are utilizing GFMIs to enhance the operation of the power system, will be included in this book as case studies.

- 1 May 2022: Full Chapter Submission Deadline (around 20 pages)
- 30 June 2022: Revised Chapter Submission Deadline
- 15 July 2022: Publication Available Online
Submission Guidelines
- Please submit book chapter proposals (including title, a brief introduction, and a table of content of the chapter, Author/ Author’s affiliation) to https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=gfmis-1
- Proposals should be limited to 250-1000 words
- The full chapter should count a minimum of 20 pages and a maximum of 25 pages (single column, 1.5-line spacing)
- During full chapter preparation, free-format template is acceptable. However, it is recommended to use the official MS Word or Latex template.
