We are a biannual event linked to the Postgraduate Program in Genetics (PPGen) of the Institute of Biological Sciences of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Our first edition took place in 2018 and it was a success. More than 400 students/professionals from different parts of Brazil and abroad participated in our event in 2018, in face-to-face mode. That's what we expect in this second event in 2022.
Submission of work - Abstracts
Instructions for submitting abstracts
The submission of abstracts will be carried out exclusively through the form available on the event page, from April 25, 2022 and will have a deadline of June 10, 2022.

(i) The best area the works fits;
(ii) He/She/They wants to compete for oral presentation or only for poster presentation;
(iii) If He/She/They wants to compete for the scientific dissemination award, simply upload or make the link available in the indicated field. Otherwise, we will understand that there is no interest in participating in this modality.

Analysis of Abstracts
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee of the GeneTime Conference 2022. The reviewers will not analyze abstracts from their research groups.
What will be evaluated:
1) Text quality (grammar and spelling);
2) Objectives (relevant and clearly defined);
3) Methodology used;
4) Results (clearly presented);
5) Conclusions (related to the results);
6) Relevance (scientific contribution);
The abstracts will be submitted through the Easychair system, which is an international system for submitting abstracts and articles. In the system, the works are evaluated according to the above criteria and will receive grades from -3 to 3 (being -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 and 3). Therefore, if you receive feedback from reviewers, you will have a grade with the notes or suggestions. Remember that they are notes or suggestions about the work, it is up to the submitter to assess whether the notes and suggestions are relevant.
If the abstract submission is made by May 30th and the abstract is not accepted, you can make a new abstract submission adapting the work. After this date, abstract resubmissions will no longer be accepted.
The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject abstracts that are incompatible with the theme or outside the rules of the event.
Abstracts limited to project descriptions, work intent and bibliographic reviews will not be accepted. The selection of oral and poster abstracts will be done by the Scientific Committee designated by the members of the Organizing Committee.
The number of abstracts selected for oral presentation is conditioned to the time limitations estimated in the event's schedule and is the responsibility of the Scientific Committee.
The acceptance or rejection of the work will be informed by e-mail to the applicant through the Easychair system by August 2nd. Make sure to check your e-mail inbox and spam. The list of selected abstracts for poster and oral presentations will be published on the event website by August 1st, 2022.
Only one certificate will be issued for each accepted and presented abstract. It will contain the title of the work, the name of the author and all co-authors according to the information submitted in the system.

Posters must contain the identification of all authors and their institutions, keywords (maximum 4), introduction, objectives, methodology, results, conclusions/perspectives, acknowledgments and/or financial support (if applicable) and references. The name of the presenting author must be underlined.
Please, include the GeneTime Conference 2022 logo at the top or bottom of your poster. The event page provides a template layout for the poster (not mandatory, at the author's discretion).

Each author will be responsible for affixing his poster before the beginning of each day's activities in the indicated spot and for removing it after the end of each day's activities.
Video Contest for Scientific Media
In order to publicize the Teaching, Research and Extension projects developed by the participants of the GeneTime Conference 2022, a video contest for scientific dissemination will be held. The videos must be of short duration, produced according to the abstract, using a dynamic and creative approach with language accessible to the non-specialist audience. All submitted videos will receive a certificate of participation and the three best videos will receive an award.
Registration for the contest will be through a Google form available in the event's website. In the form, the participants must provide the submission number of their abstract, along with the link to access the video.
Video Instructions
The video must be produced in horizontal orientation (landscape/landscape) with a minimum image resolution of 1024x768 pixels, with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and must have a minimum duration of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes, in MP4 format.
The name of the video file must consist of the applicant´s first and last name and the nature of the project (Teaching, Research or Extension), followed by the file extension. Example: FirstName_LastName_Research.mp4.
The content may be narrative or descriptive, and may contain illustrations, animations, and music, as long as they are related to research, teaching, and extension. The content has to be related to the submitted abstract, obeying the due copyright and referencing the sources.
The language should be clear, direct and with simple terms, accessible to a lay public and not just to academics, avoiding technical-scientific terms, whenever possible, but preserving the zeal for the accuracy of scientific information.
The following elements must be present in the video:
1) Title of the work;
2) Name of presenter, advisor and other team members;

The videos may be in Portuguese or English, but must have subtitles in Portuguese to facilitate their understanding and accessibility. Please include the event logo at the beginning or the end of the video.
The submission of the video through the Abstract Submission form of the GeneTime Conference 2022 implies the authorization for the use of its images (the submitter holds images copyright and responsibility), and accessibility to the public from the moment of receipt.
You have until June 15th to submit the video.
