EVOKE CASCON is the premier industrial and academic conference for advanced studies in computer science and software engineering sponsored by the IBM Canada Laboratory. EVOKE CASCON attracts software developers, researchers, innovators, technologists and decision makers from academia, industry, and government, who come together to learn about technology trends, present papers, participate in workshops, and exhibit prototypes and solutions. The EVOKE CASCON program features thought-provoking keynotes, original research papers, stimulating workshops, and an engaging technology expo. Conference proceedings are published in the ACM Digital Library.
Note on COVID-19: Our hearts go out to all those who may be battling COVID-19.Due to the uncertainties and potential restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, EVOKE CASCON 2020 is being planned to be held from November 10 - 13, 2020, however with alternate plans in mind to accommodate potential restrictions. The safety and well-being of all conference participants is our top priority.* Papers accepted for EVOKE CASCON 2020 will be published in the ACM Digital Library regardless of the COVID-19 uncertainties.* If travel is not possible, then virtual or hybrid participation options will be available. Virtual participation will offer reduced rates for registration.We will continue to monitor the situation and post updates at the conference website and on social media.
TOPICS
We cordially invite research and position papers as well as workshop and expo proposals in the broad areas of computer science, software engineering, software applications, and data science in general, including but not limited to cognitive computing, big data analytics, cloud computing, quantum computing, security and privacy, Internet of Things (IoT), software-as-a-service, adaptive systems, service systems, database technologies, compiler technologies, machine learning, hardware accelerators, mobile application frameworks and platforms, blockchain, DevOps, and business intelligence. We encourage interdisciplinary research papers and proposals.
We also encourage papers that describe applications, including but not limited to the following areas: healthcare, finance, smart cities, smart environment, supply chain, smart commerce, smart grid and energy, connected and driverless cars, smart design, wearable computing, and social computing.
In addition to academic papers, we invite submissions that focus on innovations in, and the innovative use of, IBM products, platforms, and solutions.

PAPER TYPES
EVOKE CASCON 2020 calls for three types of papers:
- original research papers are at most 10 pages long in ACM format (style ACM_SigConf).
- experience reports, which share experience and lessons gained from the use of technology that can be useful to others, are at most 10 pages long in ACM format (style ACM_SigConf).
- position papers, which share vision, highlight technology gaps, or discuss emerging advances, are at most 6 pages long in ACM format (style ACM_SigConf).
EVOKE CASCON 2020 will not accept submissions that have been previously published, are in press, or are under consideration for dissemination elsewhere. Accepted technical papers will be included in the conference proceedings published by EVOKE CASCON and included in the ACM Digital Library.
BEST PAPER AWARDS
Two paper awards -- Best Paper and Best Student Paper -- will recognize the best technical contributions of the event in terms of originality, clarity, and potential impact. To be eligible for the Best Student Paper award, a student(s) must have primarily authored the paper, must have been a student(s) at the time the work was done, and must have carried out the work described; only the student author(s) receive this award.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
Submissions are made via Easychair and must be in the standard ACM format for conference proceedings. Research and experience papers must not exceed 10 pages double column including all figures, tables, and references. Position papers must not exceed 6 pages, including all figures, tables, and references.
