EVA London 2023
The EVA London 2023 conference on Electronic Visualisation and the Arts is planned for 10–14th July 2023. We plan to have a hybrid conference with a physical event at the new BCS London office located in Moorgate, central London, together with an online component. More detailed plans will appear on the EVA London 2023 website.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
Long Papers
Long papers will be presented in 20-minute slots (either in plenary sessions or in parallel, with 15 minutes allocated for the talk itself) and be associated with a publication of a 3-8 page “long” paper in the proceedings. At least one author must register for the date of presentation of the paper and there will be a modest charge to cover online open access publication costs on ScienceOpen. Paper presentations will be physical in London or online (or a combination of the two) depending on what is possible for the presenter(s). A draft paper should be submitted for review. Note that long paper submissions may be accepted as short papers if the draft submission is reviewed as not sufficient for a long paper.
Short Papers and Demonstrations
Short papers and demonstrations will also be timetabled in 20-minute slots, optionally in combination with a long paper presentation for demonstrations in a 30-minute combined slot. Proposals are invited and should be submitted in outline as an extended abstract. However, we will not expect detailed demo requirements until nearer the conference, to allow time for development. For publication, you will be able to provide a 1-2 page “short” paper (e.g., describing the demo) if not associated with a long paper. At least one author must register for the date of presentation of the demonstration. There will be a small charge to cover online open access publication costs. Note that paper submissions may be accepted for presentation only if the final submission is missing or not suitable as a long paper.
Panel Sessions and Workshops
Proposals for panel sessions or workshops are welcome. Please note the following:
- A panel session would normally consist of two or more panel members who each make brief presentations or statements, followed by a discussion with the audience. We will look for panel sessions which we judge to be of wide interest to the EVA London audience and which would stimulate and engage the audience. Panel sessions last 30 minutes with an optional associated paper of 1-8 pages (i.e., a short or long paper). Note that all panel members must register for at least the day of the panel. A panel session may be physical or online.
- A workshop should be a practical tutorial or coordinated set of presentations and would normally be delivered in a 90 to 120-minute session. Note that all workshop presenters must register for at least the day of the workshop. An optional associated paper of 1-8 pages (i.e., a short or long paper) can appear in the proceedings for a charge or a joint paper covering several workshops edited by the workshop chairs at no charge is also possible. A workshop may be physical or online, although physical workshops tend to work best.
Research Workshop
Held on one or two days of the EVA London conference depending on the number of accepted submissions, the Research Workshop is an opportunity for postgraduate students and artists to present their work and share research work in progress in an informal and supportive setting. A Research Workshop proposal is for a 20-minute presentation on your ideas, plans or initial results (including a few minutes for questions and discussion). Accepted Research Workshop presenters can attend free on the day of the presentation. A written submission of up to two pages may be incorporated in a joint paper edited by the Research Workshop organiser. A separate paper may be possible by arrangement with and at the discretion of the organiser, at an additional charge.
The final deadline for proposals is 2nd March 2023 by email to the Research Workshop organiser, Graham Diprose. Note that some proposals for the main conference may be accepted for the Research Workshop instead. Short papers (1-2 pages) are possible for a small charge, or material for a combined Research Workshop paper at no charge is also possible.
