European Conference on Health Communication (ECHC) 2021
Call for Abstracts – Extended deadline June 15, 2021
We are delighted to announce the upcoming European Conference on Health Communication (ECHC), that will take place online on November 4 & 5, 2021.
The theme of the conference is “Health communication dynamics in turbulent times”. The conference will provide a platform for scientists to discuss the role of communication about health and health-related issues in the context of rapidly changing media environments and technological developments, as well as in the context of current public health crises. As always, the ECHC also welcomes high-quality contributions that cover health-communication topics beyond the conference theme.
We welcome contributions from senior as well as early-career researchers, and specifically also invite PhD students to submit their work. The conference will host several panels especially focused on important topics for PhD students.
Abstract guidelines
We invite abstracts for three possible formats, preferably related to the conference theme:
- Traditional presentation: presentation of completed work; 10 minutes presentation plus 5 minutes discussion.
- Work in progress: presentation of research ideas or ongoing research with the aim to gather input for the ongoing project; 5 minutes blitz presentation plus 10 minutes discussion.
- Panels: 4–6 presentations or a discussion on a particular topic. Each panel lasts for 60 minutes, and panel organizers should submit a general panel description and all panel abstracts.
Abstracts may cover empirical (quantitative and qualitative) research, as well as theoretical contributions. Abstracts on empirical research should have the following sections: introduction, methods, findings, and conclusion. Abstracts providing a theoretical contribution should have three sections: introduction, main argument, conclusion.
Abstracts should be 500 words maximum (for the panel sessions: max 500 words per presentation and max 500 words for the panel description), and should be written in English. All abstracts will be subject to double-blind peer review, so please make sure that your abstract has no identifying information.
Abstract submission
Abstracts should be submitted via the submission website in EasyChair. Extended deadline for submissions is 15 June 2021.
In case of questions, please feel free to contact the organizers at echc2021@gmail.com
