The third conference on Computer Simulation of Musical Creativity will be held from 20th-22nd August 2018 at the Michael Smurfit Business School, UCD, Dublin 4.
Computational simulation of musical creativity is an emerging, exciting and significant area of research. In the last few years, numerous systems that compose, improvise and perform music have been developed. These systems pose several theoretical and technical challenges, and are the result of an interdisciplinary effort that encompasses the domains of music, artificial intelligence, cognitive science and philosophy.
The main goal of this conference is to bring together scholars from different backgrounds, interested in virtual emulation of musical creativity, providing an interdisciplinary platform to promote, present and discuss their work.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions can cover both theoretical and/or practical aspects of the computer simulation of musical creativity. Interdisciplinary proposals at the intersection of music, computer science, psychology and philosophy are welcome. Short papers should be no longer than 8 pages. Long papers should not exceed 16 pages.
Papers should be formatted using either the LaTeX or the Word templates for the CSMC 2018 conference. Panel and musical proposals have no formatting restrictions. All contributions should be submitted in PDF format.
LaTeX template (recommended) / Word template
Call For Works
CSMC2018 invites submissions of music/sonic/media works for concert presentation on the first evening of the conference (on August 20th). The works should relate to the conference theme of computer simulation of musical creativity (see topics under Call for Papers). The work submission may be linked to a paper submission, but this link is not required. Human and computer performers must be organised by the person/group submitting.
The venue has a stereo sound system with a sound engineer. Please submit a complete description of the project via EasyChair, including a tech rider listing all requirements and a link to an online recording (audio and/or video) of the work.
