‘Artificial Intelligence across Domains: Research, Innovation and Impact’

The Centre for Doctoral Training in Artificial Intelligence (CDT in AI) invites postgraduate researchers at Coventry University to contribute to its inaugural conference, ‘Artificial Intelligence across Domains: Research, Innovation and Impact’.

Artificial intelligence is influencing research, innovation and professional practice across a growing range of disciplines. Its significance extends beyond the development of new technologies and computational methods. It also raises important questions about how knowledge is produced, how research is conducted, how decisions are made and how the effects of technological change are experienced across different communities and sectors.

This one-day conference will showcase the diverse research being undertaken by postgraduate researchers within Coventry University whose work engages with artificial intelligence. It will provide an opportunity to share research, receive feedback, make connections across disciplinary boundaries and contribute to wider conversations about the present and future significance of AI.

We welcome contributions from postgraduate researchers across the sciences, engineering, healthcare, business, education, the social sciences, arts and humanities, and other fields who are members of CDT in AI. Your research does not need to focus exclusively on artificial intelligence. We are interested in work that examines how AI intersects with, contributes to, challenges or could potentially transform your area of research.

Contributions may present completed research, work in progress, feasibility studies, literature or evidence reviews, methodological reflections, emerging ideas or proposed future applications.

- The use of AI within particular disciplines or professional contexts

- New methods, models, systems and applications

- Generative AI and changing practices of writing, reading and knowledge production

- AI in healthcare, engineering, energy and sustainability

- AI in education, learning and assessment

- AI in business, organisations and the future of work

- AI in the arts, humanities, media and creative practice

- AI, society, culture and human behaviour

- Ethics, responsibility, transparency, bias and trust

- Governance, regulation and responsible innovation

- User experiences of AI systems and technologies

- The social, cultural, economic or environmental impact of AI

- Feasibility studies and proposed future uses of AI

- Interdisciplinary approaches to artificial intelligence

These areas are indicative rather than exhaustive. We welcome other contributions that connect meaningfully with the conference theme.

Contribution formats

You may want to contribute in one of the following formats.

- Paper presentation

A 20-minute presentation examining a research project, argument, method, finding or developing area of enquiry.

- Lightning talk

A focused five-minute presentation communicating a research idea, emerging finding, methodological challenge, proposed application or work in progress.

- Poster presentation

A visual presentation of an ongoing or completed research project, research question, method, proposed innovation or emerging finding.

Posters for accepted contributions will be professionally printed by the centre. Successful applicants will be required to prepare and submit their posters as PDF files in A1 portrait format. They will receive an approved conference poster template, together with guidance on the required dimensions, content and submission process.

Presenters will be expected to retain their posters after the conference so that they can be displayed or reused at future conferences, exhibitions and research events.

Presenters are also welcome to volunteer as peer reviewers and contribute to the review of other submitted abstracts. Review assignments will take account of relevant expertise and any potential conflicts of interest, and presenters will not review their own submissions.

Who can participate

The call is open to Coventry University postgraduate researchers who are members of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Artificial Intelligence at any stage of their research.

Recognition for contributors

All accepted presenters will receive a Certificate of Contribution recognising their participation in the inaugural Coventry University Centre for Doctoral Training in AI Student Conference 2026.

Awards will be presented for Best Paper Presentation and Best Poster Presentation, with a £25 gift voucher awarded to the recipient in each category.

Submission requirements

Please submit an abstract of no more than 250 words and a short biography of no more than 100 words by Friday, 18 September 2026.

Notification of outcome: Friday, 25 September 2026

Conference registration

All attendees, including accepted presenters, must complete the conference registration form.

Attendance and registration are mandatory for CDT in AI students. Postgraduate researchers, academic staff and colleagues from across Coventry University are warmly invited to attend and support the University’s emerging AI research community.

Refreshments and hot drinks will be available during the conference.
