On behalf of the CAOSUK 2020 organising committee, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Annual Meeting of our Society in London at the Royal Society of Medicine. This year marks the 15th year of the founding of our society and the 6th since we joined as a specialist society of the British Orthopaedic Association. The meeting will be truly international as it will be combined with SICOT. The congress will be followed by a two day CAOSUK EduQual course to be held for the first time at the Imperial College for those wishing to obtain Certification in Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery.
The programme committee has arranged for an exciting scientific program. The sessions this year will be arranged in a format to showcase both new technology as well as traditional clinical outcomes. All moderators are experts in the field of Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery and will invigorate the discussions.
The advent of computers into all aspect of our lives has been explosive in the past decade and the conference aims to equip both the experts and the novice; the old and the young surgeons with the necessary tools to embark on the next part of this incredible journey.
We invite free papers from all over the world and will be providing prizes for the best podium presentation and posters. There will be debates, interactive lectures, plenary speakers from leaders in their fields and invited keynote lectures. The focus will move from computer navigation to include the essential fields of robotics, advanced medical imaging, individual assessments of soft tissue characteristics and customisation. The science and desirability of enhanced recovery, perioperative care and outpatient athroplasty will be debated.
The SICOT session will focus on simulation, machine learning and artificial intelligence in the field of education, which will be presented by champions and debated by traditionalists.
London in June has much to offer with long summery days and numerous festivals and outdoor programmes throughout the city. We would hope you will be able to extend your stay to take in the sights and culture of this iconic city.
The Royal Society of Medicine is a venue steeped in history and right in the heart of the city. Recently refurbished the conference facilities are second to none.
Submission Guidelines
Papers are expected to demonstrate novelty by arguing that there is a gap in existing literature that the presented work addresses and to present data to support any conclusions drawn. We especially encourage young researchers to take part in the conference. Accordingly, some preference will be given to presenting authors who do not yet hold (or have only very recently taken up) faculty appointments or post-graduation industry
You will be asked to submit a short abstract (250 words) in PDF format, for which a template is available. Authors of abstracts that have been selected for oral presentation will have their abstract published online within the "Orthopaedic Proceedings" of the Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ).
