The 2026 Applied Urban Modelling (AUM) symposium (AUM2026) is the eleventh in a continuing series of symposia on applied urban simulation models. Since its inception in 2011, the AUM series has brought together delegates from a wide range of disciplines, universities, professional institutions, government agencies, international organizations, and civic groups from both developed and developing countries.
The preceding event to AUM2026, Modelling Active Mobility, is a two-day seminar that convenes scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss the current state and future frontiers of modelling pedestrians’ and cyclists’ interactions with built environments.
It is inviting submissions based on at least one of the following six themes:
- Land-use, transport and other interactions in the built environment (LUTI+)
- Modelling of agent and other micro-level behaviour
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) in models and for cities
- Economics and econometrics for cities and infrastructure
- Policy modelling and design for equality, sustainability and climate resilience
- Urban analytics for real policy purposes
Please include no more than six authors and one proposed presenting author per submission.
Submissions will be peer-reviewed for acceptance. The submissions are accepted assuming the author(s) will present in person. The submissions for review are due on Monday, 5 January 2026. Review outcomes will be communicated to author(s) during February 2026.
Submission Guidelines
No paper submission is required for the pre-conference seminar. For the main AUM sessions, participants have a choice of two submission options:
- Podium presentation (an abstract of between 250-1000 words plus a 50-word headline summary)
- Poster (an abstract of 250 words)
Submissions will be peer-reviewed for acceptance. The submissions are accepted assuming the author(s) will present in person. The submissions for review are due on Monday, 5 January 2026.
