3rd Edition of Workshop on Emerging Software Engineering Education (WESEE) co-located with 13th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (ISEC) 2020 call for submission of position papers, experience reports and research papers. WESEE 2020 aims to invoke discussions towards teaching software engineering in the classrooms, challenges, and futuristic aspirations through invited talks, paper presentations, experience reports, and rigorous discussions on unleashing various creative methods of teaching and evaluation along with innovative course curricula and learning environments, being employed at higher educational levels in academia and industry to teach software engineering and closely related courses. Another major focus of the workshop will be on bridging the software engineering knowledge and skill gap between academia and industry.
Submissions are invited in the following topics of interest include but are not limited to
- Software engineering education for new and emerging technologies;
- Novel approaches to designing software engineering curricula;
- Needs and expectations of software engineering students aspiring to be software engineers;
- Skills and continuing education for software engineering educators;
- Classroom formats that cater to diverse learning styles;
- Teaching methodologies that leverage technology-enhanced education in software engineering courses;
- Balancing teaching of soft and hard skills;
- Balancing rigor and practicality;
- Experience in educating the students in a software engineering program/course;
- Experience in being educated as a student in a software engineering program/course;
- Experiential and hands-on learning for software engineers; and
- Gaps and challenges in professional graduate software engineering programs.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
- Research Papers, including case studies, reporting on original research results pertaining to software engineering education.
- Experience Reports describing experiences in training/teaching students in software engineering courses or curricula in higher education or professional settings with a focus on actionable advice and lessons learned.
- Position Papers sharing the author’s insights or proposing an original idea or an opinion pertaining to software engineering education.
We are looking for contributions that enhance the knowledge towards software engineering education and contribute to the workshop goals. Submitted papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Submissions will be reviewed by the workshop Program Committee.

Publication
The WESEE 2020 workshop proceedings will be submitted to CEUR-WS for online publication (which is usually indexed by DBLP, and then by SCOPUS). The submitted paper must follow the CEUR-WS template of A4 size in PDF format (including figures, references, and appendices). Submitted papers will be reviewed by the workshop program committee members with respect to the overall quality including presentation, the future impact of the research and the likely benefit to the students, academics, and professionals who will attend the workshop.
The organizers reserve the right to reject submissions (without reviews) that are not in compliance or out of scope for the workshop submissions and exceed the page limit. Authors of accepted papers have to register for the workshop.
Venue
The workshop will be held in IIITDM Jabalpur, India on 27 February 2020 co-located with 13th Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (ISEC) 2020.
