UTSN 2023: Urban Transit and Sustainable Networks – 3rd Edition Online Online, Ireland, May 1-3, 2023

From the Silk Road to the Cape of Good Hope, human beings toured the globe to find better routes to travel and deliver goods. The urge to move and discover the world has taunted them to construct routes that connect cities and countries together. These routes were constructed on land mainly for trade reasons and human transportation. However, sea navigation also helped make travel and goods transporting across countries much easier.

Nowadays, with the advancements in technology and navigation, people are able to create routes in cities and form networks between distant places. The successful planning of urban routes and networks helps decrease the commute time for everyday trips and ease the transit of human beings and goods.

However, while keeping these concepts in mind, architects who construct such routes should be aware of the environmental impacts. For instance, there must be no contradictions between constructing routes and saving the environment. In many countries, governments may need to eradicate forests or natural habitats to construct shorter routes between cities. This does not only endanger animal and plant species, but it also affects Earth’s weather and increases pollution.

Therefore, there must be rules to regulate these constructions and sustain the lives of human beings and animal species by preventing pollution and protecting natural habitats. Urbanization should not risk life on Earth.

IEREK, through the 3rd edition of the International Conference on Urban Transit and Sustainable Networks (UTSN), aims at finding contemporary solutions to facilitate the construction of land routes to preserve man’s first instinctual habit to connect and network. The conference will also discuss ways for the transit of humans and goods through seaways. This should be done while maintaining clean oceans and keeping the environment safe.

Join the world researchers, scientists, and architects to draw paths and find solutions to a better-connected society. Accepted papers will be published in IEREK’s and Springer’s Scopus-indexed ASTI book series.

Scope

The 3rd edition of the Urban Transit and Sustainable Networks (UTSN) conference covers topics concerning innovative methods of public transport that focus on climate change mitigation and shift away from automobile reliance in cities. It highlights the importance of transportation in history, and modern ways of life, and analyses several modes of transport, while measuring their relevant significance and trends of usage across time. A multitude of disciplines concerning transit is discussed within the conference, including governmental policies, utilization of renewable energies & green/biofuels, urban transit planning, sustainable network systems, and challenges in implementation of environmentally conscious transit systems.

Statement of Purpose

The world is continually morphing and changing due to mankind’s influence, the greenhouse effect that is currently taking place and ravaging some continents cannot continue to be ignored. One of the highest contributors to climate change is exhaust fumes ejected by automobiles. A surprising majority of modern cities completely rely on automobiles for traversal which is not only costing us the safety and continuation of our planet, but also the health and well-being of residents within said cities. This conference brings attention to perhaps the most crucial topic humanity needs to address today, analyzing the effects of unsustainable transit methods, and shifting away from them towards sustainable modes of transport, and green energy utilization, ensuring a safe future for mankind upon Earth.
