Track 2 sharing and platform economy in mobility and logistics
Many sharing and platform initiatives come into existence in the mobility and logistics industry, just like the rest of the economy. The public debate mainly focusses on the legal rules for platform initiatives, such as Uber, Uber Cargo, Deliveroo, … and the legal status of the gig workers. Societal innovations however also take place in B2B and p2p contexts. Examples of the former are cargo bundling initiatives, but also traditional mechanisms such as liner conferences and code sharing, while p2p car sharing initiatives are examples of the latter. Sharing and platform models in mobility and logistics have both supporters and critics. On the one hand there is a risk that such initiatives facilitate law evasion and allow for, social dumping and abuse of market power for example. On the other hand, these initiatives could effectively contribute to efficiency and sustainability of transport, profitability of e-commerce and labour market participation. This track aims to trigger the academic debate about the regulation of such initiatives, but aims to go beyond this question and also investigate questions such as the status of platforms, insurance questions and the construction of operational legal designs, allowing for a sustainable sharing and platform economy in mobility and logistics.
This track is organised in cooperation with the Dynamics of inclusive prosperity flagship initiative and is open to legal, operational and interdisciplinary presentations.
Posters during IMLAM moot court
This year`s transport law de lege ferenda will run parallel with the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot Court (IMLAM), a maritime law moot court with 33 teams from all over the world participating this year. This provide speakers with a unique opportunity to expose their research to master students, coaches and approximately 100 arbitrators from all over the world.
Speakers at the conference are invited to submit a poster, which will be put in the IMLAM central hall. Poster submission is not compulsory. Information on poster requirements will be sent to interested people.
