“The right stories can open our hearts and change who we are” – according to Janet Murray, interactive narratives can reflect our contemporary conception of the world as multiple and enacting stories, which enables the exploration of multiple instances from different perspectives. This personal transformation is crucial for the success of commercial, artistic and serious applications alike.
The goal of the workshop is to explore the role of transformation in interactive narratives, and the tools at our disposal to design for and evaluate the impact of transformative experiences. The workshop will consist of four units, in which the participating experts will present, discuss, and build on their collective knowledge to create a better understanding of how interactive narratives can lead to transformation.
Submission Guidelines
Participants are invited to submit a 4-page position paper (Springer format). For industry submissions we accept slides. We solicit position papers on the following:
● Gaps in our understanding of the range and impact of transformative IDEs.
● Post-mortems on narrative design and testing for transformative experiences.
● Techniques to evaluate transformative narrative experiences and their impact.
