This workshop provides opportunities for researchers, practitioners, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, developers, students, educators, programmers, and newcomers to obtain key pedagogical insights into integrating basic quantum information concepts with current STEM education curriculum and support future generations of quantum educators and academicians. The workshop webpage is at https://ed.quantum.ieee.org/qweek21-workshop/. This is one of two events IEEE Quantum Education is sponsoring at IEEE Quantum Week.
Call for Abstracts
This Call for Abstracts is for the workshop Developing Effective Methodologies to Teach Quantum Information Science to Early-Stage Learners, abbreviated Teaching Quantum Information Science (TQIS). This workshop provides methodologies to early adopting STEM instructors and curriculum developers in quantum information science. Crucially, this serves to motivate the need for quantum education, identify the translation from building essential skills to real world applications, and give valuable perspectives on how to learn quantum science from professionals in the quantum community.
Teaching Quantum Information Science (TQIS) seeks talks and discussion on teaching and developing materials for learning quantum information science, quantum engineering, and quantum computing. Submissions are welcome from any geographical region, for any age and type of learner, on any subject within the field of quantum information science. This includes but is not limited to: best practices for teaching quantum concepts, development of learning materials, hands-on lab design, and quantum software tools or games with a curricular component.
Registration and Timeline
As this workshop is part of the IEEE Quantum Week 2021 Workshops Program, all workshop speakers and participants must be registered to attend the IEEE Quantum Week '21 virtual conference. Limited funding is available covering the cost of conference registration (including access to all IEEE Quantum Week '21 activities live and on-demand) for accepted speakers for whom registration is a financial barrier.
