It is a pleasure to invite you to the fourth annual Themed Experience and Attractions Academic Society (TEAAS) scholarly symposium focused on themed experiences and attractions. The symposium is organized by the academic society with support of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). This year we are proud to include academics from Fusion Studio for Entertainment and Engineering-Purdue University as part of our program. The syposium will take place in Orlando, FL on 19 November 2021, on the last day of IAAPA Expo.
The smposium will include oral presentations of selected research papers (conventional 15-minute academic presentations), structured networking sessions, and an extended lunchtime research poster session. This year we are planning an evening get-together to continue informal networking and conversations with colleagues.
Topics
The broad theme for TEAAS 2021 is Themed Experiences and Attractions: Past - Present - Future. All recent scholarly work, previously unpublished, relevant to the attraction industry is invited, including fixed-site theme parks and attractions and mobile ride operations, and other attractions and themed experiences.
For example:
Tourism, economic, and strategic planning research
Themed entertainment design and transmedia applications
Science and technology of themed experiences, rides, an attractions
Methodology for evaluating the guest experience
Hospitality and operational research
Submission Guidelines
15 Minute Stand-Up Presentation
- Paper of not more than 1000 words
- Title, 100 word abstract, body to include introduction, background, method/theoretical frame, results/observations/implications for scholars/industry
- 12 point, Times New Roman font, single-spaced, 1 inch margins on sides, 1 inch margin on top and bottom
- Tables and figures should appear at the end of the text and are not included in 1000 word count
- References should appear at the end of the text and are not included in word count
- Lead authors should be academically affiliated faculty
- Completed empirical work not published elsewhere
Poster
- Extended abstract of not more than 500 words
- Title, short abstract, body to include introduction, key topics, results if applicable, implications
- 12 point, Times New Roman font, single-spaced, 1 inch margins on sides, 1 inch margins on top and bottom
- Tables, figures, and references should appear after the text and are not included in 500 word count
- Graduate student work appropriate for poster submissions only
- Feature research in progress or just completed
- Final, accepted posters should be 48" x 36"
