The conference will include a 3-day main session (3-5 September 2020) at UCL, and two 1-day special themed sessions (2 September 2020) at QMUL on the topics of gestures and natural language semantics, and the semantics of understudied languages and semantic fieldwork.
Invited speakers (main session):
- Ana Arregui (UMass Amherst)
- Lisa Bylinina (Leiden)
- Clemens Mayr (Göttingen)
Call for papers for the main session
We invite abstract submissions for oral and/or poster presentations for the main session of Sinn und Bedeutung 25, on topics pertaining to natural language semantics, pragmatics, the syntax-semantics interface, psycho- and neurolinguistics of meaning, and the philosophy of language.
Abstracts should be anonymous and must not exceed two pages (letter size or A4 paper, 2.5cm or 1 inch margins on all sides, 12 point font), including examples and references. Abstracts must be submitted electronically in PDF format via EasyChair by Sunday 1 March 2020 (23:59 Central European Standard Time). Please note that abstract submission for the special sessions will open separately.
Abstracts should contain original research that, at the time of submission, has neither been published nor accepted for publication. One person can submit at most one abstract as sole author and one abstract as co-author (or two co-authored abstracts), for the main session and the special sessions combined. Main session submissions can, of course, be on the topic of one of the special sessions, and will be given full consideration. Authors will be asked to specify at the time of submission their preference for their abstract to be considered for a talk (35+10 minutes) and/or a poster.
Important dates:
- Abstract submission deadline: 1 March, 2020 (23:59 Central European Standard Time)
- Notification of acceptance: early June, 2020
- Main session: 3-5 September, 2020
- Special sessions: 2 September 2020
