About SUJS 2021
Sino-UK Joint Symposium on Post Covid-19 Pandemic: A Reconsideration for the Built Environment (SUJS 2021) is funded by NSFC (National Natural Science Foundation of China) and BC (British Council). This symposium aims to help cities in China and the UK to establish a healthier living environment. It will convene outstanding young scholars from the China and UK to exchange ideas and discuss the possible solutions for building a healthy city in the post-pandemic era. This symposium will provide a platform for knowledge sharing, generate collaborative possibilities and networking between young interdisciplinary scholars in China and the UK.
Symposium Theme
Through multidisciplinary sharing from various departments such as Architecture, Building Engineering, Urban Planning, Material Science, Environment Engineering, Computer Science, Energy Simulation and Public Health. Scholars will gain a comprehensive understanding of designing and building indoor and outdoor healthy environments, considering requirements in terms of health, comfort, safety and energy consumption.
This joint symposium will discuss design methods, evaluation models and case studies example of healthy urban areas including healthy neighborhoods and buildings. The key objective of the workshop will be to reduce the risk of pandemic breakout in urban areas, whereas possible, incorporating sustainable solutions.

Submission Guidelines
The proceedings will be published in Springer as part of the DigitalFUTURES collection https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9789813343993. Suitable abstracts will also be invited to submit a paper for publication in special issues of "Energy and Buildings" and "Building Simulation" (Springer).
Kindly submit a title and a short abstract via Easychair by 4th June 2021, 23:59 (GMT+1), so that the committee can prepare for the proceeding and special issues. All papers should be original and should not be submitted to another journal or conference simultaneously. Plagiarism (including self-plagiarism) is prohibited. All submissions will be reviewed for quality, originality, and relevance by the committee and reviewers.
- Language: English
- Abstract: 150 - 300 words
- Full Conference Paper: 6 - 10 pages (including references, table/chart and keywords)
- Key words: 3-5 words.
- Each Figure should above 300dpi.
- Format: PDF and MS Word-compatible file.
