The concept of smart cities is firmly established as a key subject of contemporary academic and political debates. This is no less true for the seemingly unconnected topic of migration. In spite of the attention devoted to both issues in contemporary research and debates, the smart cities-migration nexus has not acquired the attention it is due. This expert seminar aims to explore this relationship from a variety of inter- and multidisciplinary perspectives.
The key topics that will be discussed during the seminar include a variety of issues that emerge at the intersection migration and advances in sophisticated information and communication technology (ICT) as experienced in (smart) city/urban space.
The organizers encourage submissions that adopt multi- and inter-disciplinary perspectives to query issues pertinent to smart cities and migration. These may include topics and questions originating, among others, in social and political sciences, urban studies, law, as well computer science, engineering, architecture.
