About the conference
Sponsored by the SIAM Activity Group on Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science.
About the Activity Group
Since 1994, every 2 to 4 years the SIAM Materials Activity Group organizes the SIAM Conference on Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science. This conference focuses on interdisciplinary approaches that bridge mathematical and computational methods to the science and engineering of materials. The conference provides a forum to highlight significant advances as well as critical or promising challenges in mathematics and materials science and engineering. In keeping with tradition, the conference seeks diversity in people, disciplines, methods, theory, and applications.
Focus themes
- Calculus of variations and partial differential equations
- Continuum mechanics
- Homogenization theory
- Inverse problems
- Liquid crystals and active materials
- Machine learning and data science in materials
- Optical materials
- Pattern formation in materials science
- Phase transitions
- Quantum chemistry and electronic structure
- Soft condensed matter
- Topological materials
Submission guidelines:
The submission of titles and abstracts for:
- Minisymposia talks
- Contributed talks
- Posters
is realized through this website and requires the creation of an Easy Chair account, a very quick procedure that will allow afterwards to update and correct your submission as necessary.
To create an EasyChair account you should have a valid email address and do the following.
- pass a captcha to prove that you are not a robot;

- follow the link we send to your email address to complete the account creation.
Each contributor, must submit a title and a brief abstract (not to exceed 200 words).
Please note when submitting that there different tracks for contributed lectures and posters. At some point in November also tracks for minisyposia talks will be added with a name starting with MS. The MS tracks (minisymposia) are by invitation only. Please do not submit to these tracks contributed lectures or posters, they will be automatically rejected.
