CALL FOR PAPERS
5TH Annual ICHRIE-SECSA 2020 Conference
Friday February 28 – Saturday February 29, 2020
Passion and Spirit
Greetings from the ICHRIE-SECSA Federation Board and Auburn University! Please join us at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center in Auburn, Alabama for our 5th Annual ICHRIE-SECSA Conference Friday, February 28 – Saturday, February 29, 2020. In addition to boasting a fantastic conference filled with passion and spirit, the event will take place at a AAA Four Diamond property, located downtown Auburn; rich in history and steeped in natural charm!
Please be advised that we are accepting abstracts for the 5th Annual ICHRIE-SECSA Federation Conference. We do hope you will consider attending this event, and we hope you will consider presenting an abstract for the conference proceedings. Federation members are strongly encouraged, and all members of ICHRIE are invited.
We are excited to announce a two-pronged academic focus for this conference and program: Research and Pedagogy. Attendees will be asked to submit works in the field of hospitality and tourism with an emphasis on hospitality and tourism research or pedagogical practices. Accordingly, this highlights a broad range of contemporary topics relevant to research, education, and industry practices in hospitality, tourism, and related fields of study.
Research Track and Requirements:
There are two options for submission under the Research track.
Option1: Completed Empirical Research Paper (a maximum of 1000 word Structured Abstract) for a Formal Paper Presentation
Option 2: Work-in-Progress Paper (a maximum of 500-word Abstract) for a Poster Presentation.
- To be considered for the Completed Empirical Research Paper, researchers must submit a Structured Abstract (1000 words max., in English, including tables/figures, but excluding references) by the deadline (November 17, 2019, by 5pm EST).
- To be considered for the Work-in-Progress Paper, researchers must submit a Structured Abstract (500 words max., in English including tables/figures, but excluding references) by the deadline (November 17, 2019, by 5pm EST).
- Authors may be the lead author on a maximum of 2 papers. Conference proceedings will be added to the ICHRIE website following the conference.
- Use single spaced in 12-point font, Times New Roman, one-inch margins, in APA format.
- The length of presentations will be up to 20 minutes (to be finalized after author registration is finalized), including the presentation and questions/answers.
- All papers are to be submitted online via the conference’s EasyChair link.
- Please submit the file in Microsoft Word document form, and name the file with your last name, and first initial (i.e. BrownT.doc).
- Once submitted, papers will undergo a blind review process and will be assigned to either one of the following two categories, depending upon whether they are Completed Empirical Research Papers or Work-in-Progress Papers.
Pedagogy Track and Requirements
The Pedagogy Track will feature multiple workshops to provide practical lessons and teaching modules that faculty can use in their respective classrooms or programs. These workshop presenters will share best teaching practices, innovative teaching lessons and or examples from their classroom.
- All workshops should include handouts or “takeaways” attendees may apply to their teaching. The goal is for attendees to leave each session with new ideas that they can apply immediately in their classroom and at their university or school.
- To present in this track, please submit a 1-page, double spaced abstract by the deadline (November 17, 2019, by 5pm EST) to Dr. Andrea-White McNeil at mcneila@cookman.edu.
