SAIMechE Western Cape, in association with our local engineering faculties is once again presenting their annual conference on Postgraduate Research in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Energy and Biomedical Engineering. The conference is aimed at providing an opportunity for our local postgraduate students to showcase their current research and interesting technological developments in topics related to the broad field of mechanical engineering. The event includes formal oral presentations and opportunities to engage with industry, academia and other postgraduate students. This year’s conference theme is: Engineering the Future of Aerospace.
This will be a full day conference on Friday, 6 November 2026 at The Protea Hotel (Techno Park, Stellenbosch) Conference Venue, followed by a dinner dance in the evening at Stellenrust Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, approximately 10 min drive from the conference venue.
ECSA registered for 1 CPD.
SCOPE
The Conference Organisers will accept extended abstracts that address the broad field of mechanical engineering and related disciplines for peer-review.
Recent research, research in progress and topics of current technological importance are invited.

SUBMISSION OF EXTENDED ABSTRACT
Authors must upload a 2-page extended abstract formatted according to provided template (full details here: https://www.saimeche.org.za/page/abstract). Submission files must be in PDF format and submitted by Friday, 18 September 2026 for peer-review. Final revised abstracts must be submitted by Friday, 16 October 2026.
At least the presenting author must register for the conference. Any author or co-authors that wishes to attend the conference (or presentation) must register for the conference.
