Parallel computing has entered a new era. High-end systems have surpassed the Petaflops barrier, and significant efforts are devoted to the development of the next generation of hardware and software technologies towards Exascale systems. ‘Going to the exascale’ will mean radical changes in computing architecture, software, and algorithms – basically, vastly increasing the levels of parallelism to the point of billions of threads working in tandem – which will force radical changes in design of algorithms.
This special issue (#5, May-June, 2018) of Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematics (indexed at WoS and Scopus) is seeking original unpublished papers that present scientific contribution to algorithm structure study oriented to current and future high performance parallel computing environments.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. EasyChair system should be used for paper submission: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=psa2018.
Paper Formatting
A paper is 9-12 pages long and presents the results of a completed scientific study. Papers should be written in good English and must meet Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematic standards (see details at http://ljm.kpfu.ru/).
Topics of interest
The special issue seeks papers with a special emphasis on structures of highly parallel, efficient, scalable, highly robust algorithms for high performance computing systems to address a wide range of computationally and data intensive applications. Key topic areas include, but not limited to:
- novel highly parallel algorithms for large scale applications and computing systems,
- properties and structure, static and dynamic characteristics of parallel algorithms,
- approaches, methods and tools for analysis of parallel algorithm properties,
- practical parallel algorithms in scientific computing and applications,
- new approaches to measurement and enhancement of data locality in HPC-applications,
- design of highly scalable algorithms and applications for special and general purpose high performance hardware,
- enabling co-design technologies for design of highly scalable and efficient algorithms for high performance computing.
