Call for Papers (CfP)
The 7th International Workshop on Democracy and AI (DemocrAI-Winter 2025)
in conjunction with the The Pacific Rim International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (PRICAI 2025), Wellington, New Zealand, November 17-21, 2025
The Democracy & AI (DemocrAI) workshop series builds on earlier initiatives such as AgentCrowd2019 (Torino, Italy) and AgentCrowd2020 (Auckland, New Zealand), which focused on agent-based crowd decision-making. Since its inception, DemocrAI has evolved into a leading venue for interdisciplinary dialogue at the intersection of artificial intelligence and democratic processes.
Over the years, the workshop has been hosted alongside IJCAI and PRICAI conferences in prominent international locations, including:
- 1st edition – Shanghai, China
- 2nd edition – Macao
- 3rd edition – Jakarta, Indonesia
- 4th edition – Jeju Island, South Korea
- 5th edition – Kyoto, Japan
- 6th edition – Montreal, Canada
DemocrAI aims to convene researchers and practitioners from machine learning, data science, political science, and related disciplines to explore how AI can be applied to enhance civic technologies and support democratic decision-making.
The 7th edition of DemocrAI will be held in person in conjunction with PRICAI 2025, taking place November 17–21, 2025 in Wellington, New Zealand. The program will feature invited talks, contributed paper presentations, and an interdisciplinary panel discussion.

We welcome papers that explore, but are not limited to, the following themes:

We encourage submissions that address both the challenges and opportunities of using AI in democratic societies.
This workshop will be an in-person event held in conjunction with PRICAI 2025, taking place on November 17-21, 2025 at Wellington, New Zealand. The session will cover invited talks, contributed talks, and a panel discussion.

Submission Type
We accept two submission formats:

Full Papers: Up to 8 pages (excluding references/appendices). Accepted papers will be published in the official proceedings. Full paper should be original. A new idea presented in a compact format is more likely to be accepted than the same idea in a long format.

Extended Abstracts: 2–4 pages (including references). Accepted abstracts will be presented at the workshop but will not be published in the proceedings. Extended Abstract may be based on prior work, if provided original sources are cited.

Review Policy
- Full Papers:The Authors of Full Papers will be asked to upload their revised papers to arXiv and workhop orgnizers will use DemocrAI workshop website to host the proceedings. This approach ensures open accessibility and long-term visibility for the accepted papers.
- Extended Abstracts: The asbstract will be hared on the DemocrAI’25 workshop website but will not be archived and asked to upload their revised papers to arXiv.
