Photonics deals with the physical processes behind generating, controlling, and detecting photons.Photonics is an interdisciplinary field because of the sheer huge amount of applications and devices which are encompassed in it, like photodiodes, lasers, charge coupled devices, CMOS sensors, optical fibers etc. Also, photonics can be said to coalesce physics with electrical, electronics andmechanical engineering.Photonic devices are ubiquitous in fields like, biomedicine, where lasers are used to treat many diseases; aerospace technology, dealing with laser altimeters, laser radars etc.; in engineering, where photonics is central to manufacturing MEMS and lasers are used for photonic devices etc.;in information technology for data storage, optical switching, and data transmission using opticalfibers; among many other applications of practical importance. Such photonic devices encompass a diverse variety of materials like photonic crystals, nonlinear optical crystals like photorefractive crystals and liquid crystals, optical metamaterials, semiconductor laser materials, electro-optic andmagneto-optic materials, photonic polymers, photonic crystal fibers among many others.
This is a call for book chapters which will comprise a book entitled, "Photonic Materials: Emerging Research and Applications". The book aims to present the latest and cutting edge research advances in diverse optical and photonic materials encompassing various different optical phenomena and photonic device applications. The objective of the book is to call for recent research in broadly, but not limited to materials like photonic crystals, nonlinearoptical crystals like photorefractive crystals and liquid crystals, optical metamaterials, semiconductor laser materials, electro-optic and magneto-optic materials, photonic polymers, photonic crystal fibers among many others.
Submission Guidelines
All chapters must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another book or journal or conference. The following guidelines must be met:
-
Prospective authors are required to submit a one page abstract first which explains the content of the chapter in brief.
-
Each chapter must be at least 20 pages long.
-
MS Word or Latex can be used for preparation of the manuscript.
-
Permissions for third party content are the sole responsibility of the author.
-
Plagiarism check should be undertaken to ensure similarity < 20%.
-
Standard 1.5 spacing should be there in the manuscript. Figures and Tables should be included at their respective positions and successively cited within the text.
-
The final manuscript will be peer-reviewed and only high quality and original manuscripts will be considered for publication.
