ABOUT VIT CHENNAI
The VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) has in recent years made an ‘observable’ mark in the domain of higher education in the India sub-continent. This has been made possible by providing ‘quality’ education, at all levels, very much in conformance with international standards, through its 35 years of existence in a cross-cultural environment setting in synergism with an emphasis on application-oriented research. The Institute (VIT) was founded in 1984 by Dr. G. Viswanathan, a former parliamentarian and Minister in the State (Tamil Nadu) Government , as a self-financing academic institution committed to higher education and learning and referred to by name as the Vellore Engineering College. The VIT campus in the city of Chennai, often referred to as VIT Chennai, is a globally engaged, highly competitive, cohesively comprehensive and research- involved academic campus with the prime objective of effectively responding to the major industrial, social, economic and environmental demands and challenges that could arise. The VIT Chennai is capably lead by the three key administrators, Mr. G. V. Selvam (Vice President), Dr. Anand A. Samuel (Vice Chancellor), and Dr. V S Kanchana Bhaskaran (Pro-Vice Chancellor) . Their prime objective is to both contribute and strengthen the mission of making VIT Chennai a global center for excellence in imparting higher education to include research.

ABOUT SCHOOL OF MECHANICAL AND BUILDING SCIENCES (SMBS)
The School of Mechanical and Building Sciences (SMBS) is one of the seven constituent schools of VIT, Chennai. The school offers B.Tech. programs in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, M.Tech. programs in CAD & CAM, Mechatronics, Structural Engineering, M.Tech (By Research) and PhD in different streams specifically related to Thermal, Manufacturing, Automotive Design, Water Resources & Transportation, Structural and Environmental Engineering. The school is crowned with well qualified faculties from reputed institutes like IIT's, IISc and institutes abroad, who do inspire the students to learn the subjects through experimental projects utilizing the state-of-the art laboratories.

The Twenty-Eighth International Conference on Processing and Fabrication of Advanced Materials (PFAM-XXVIII) is being organized by the School of Mechanical and Building Sciences [SMBS] at the Vellore Institute of Technology VIT Chennai [VIT University, CHENNAI (Tamil Nadu), INDIA] to be held in the city of Chennai (Madras) (INDIA), 07 - 09 December 2020. This monumental technical conference will focus on recent advances made in the fields of carbon composite materials, metallic materials, and materials for use in energy systems. The primary purpose of this inter-disciplinary conference is to bring together state-of-the-art developments on all aspects related to the processing and fabrication of advanced materials, spanning the entire spectrum of metals, intermetallic(s), ceramics, ceramic-matrix composites, carbon-carbon composites, metal-matrix composites, intermetallic-matrix composites, advanced polymers and polymer-matrix composites, and advances in the domain of surface and high-temperature coatings. The conference will provide an attractive forum for presenting the latest advances on aspects related and relevant to materials processing and fabrication by researchers and engineers from a cross- section of industry, research laboratories (government and industry specific), and academic institutions. In this monumental conference KEY-NOTE, INVITED and CONTRIBUTED papers will be included. The Key-note and Invited papers from leading-edge academic and industrial research settings will provide a lucid and comprehensive overview of the status and potential future directions for research.

All the technical papers presented at the conference will be published in the SCOPUS INDEXED journals.
The journals in which the publication will be updated in our website. For the authors who do not opt for
journal publication, the papers presented will be published in Proceedings with an adequate ISBN number.
The Proceedings Book and certificate of participation will be distributed to the conference participants at
the conference registration desk.
Instructions for manuscript preparation and submission will be provided in the website. Contributing
authors are urged to plan to ensure that their manuscripts will be completed by the deadline date of 30
August 2020. Oral or Poster presentation of the technical paper is a MUST for either journal publication
or the inclusion in the Bound Volume [Conference Proceedings].
