OGRS18 - CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
"Open Science in the geospatial domain"
After Nantes 2009, Yverdon-les-Bains 2012, Espoo 2014 and Perugia 2016, in 2018 the Open Geospatial Research and Education Symposium (OGRS) will be held in Lugano from 9th to 11th of October 2018. Yet another occasion for academics, researchers and educators to celebrate some areas of openness and jointly discuss challenges, opportunities, while networking and sharing experiences.
While open source software and geospatial technologies are key elements, this year theme is about “Open Science in Practice”. This new approach, endorsed by several research funding agencies, aims at improving the impact of scientific activities by opening and sharing knowledge, tools and materials. Nevertheless, to fully exploits the advantages of this new paradigma and put in practice Open Science scientists needs to deeply understand the open principles and solve practical issues.
In other words, the main goal of OGRS 2018 is to foster the adoption and application of Open Science principles in the geospatial domain.
Academics, researchers and educators, you are invited to contribute providing innovative research results, state of the art discussions, new approaches and methods, datasets discussing the relative experience and findings in geospatial domains.
Submit your paper so as to take benefits of the following opportunities offered by OGRS:
- get constructive feedbacks from reviewers to help you improve your paper board
- present your work and talk with an audience sharing your interests (talks in thematic sessions, hands-on with workshops, pico or posters)
- publish your work in the OGRS proceedings (open access with digital object identifiers)
Also, OGRS 2018 has a session showcasing interactive open educational resources (OER). Please consider submitting your developments and the respective usage stories of open educational resources in the geospatial domain to the GeoOER session. For excellent submission there is a chance to win the 1st OGRS GeoOER Award, sponsored by GITTA, the Geographic Information Technology Training Alliance!
If you are willing to propose a specific session, please contact the organizing committee.
As usual for OGRS, the aim is to keep registration fees the lowest possible, including special fees for students (indicatively, the cost would be around 150€).
