Call For Papers
Invited Session
"New frontiers of Data Privacy and Protection in a data-driven society 2020"
Premise
This call for paper is hosted by "The 11th International Multi-Conference on Complexity, Informatics and Cybernetics: IMCIC 2020©" (March 10 - 13, 2020 ~ Orlando, Florida, USA).
Purpose
To bring together academics, researchers and professionals, from different disciplines, for inter-disciplinary communication in the inter-disciplinary field of Data Privacy and Protection in a Data-Driven Ecosystem which importance and urgency to be addressed are increasing exponentially.
Background and Motives
In recent decades the socio-cultural context has changed profoundly, also modifying how individuals communicate. This change also had a profound impact on the relationship between individuals and legal rules, especially about the protection of the person. Numerous legislative interventions have had to change regulations or create new ones to adapt to the virtual reality of the web.
Nowadays, Data Privacy and Protection has a central role in our life. Technologies evolve fast, and people use much more electronic devices such as smartphone, tablet, computers fundamentally to communicate.
Human beings need to communicate (the first axiom of the School of Palo Alto) and the advantage offered by the Internet of being able to interact with other people even from a distance has been successful. Moreover, numerous informative and scientific contributions have described this evolution (or involution, depending on the point of view) of a social nature, which can have undoubted legal-legal reflections.
The "new" mode of communication in some ways constitutes an improvement in purely social terms. However, if there is a social advantage of the "new" communication, it cannot be said to be the same for the cultural context which, very often, unfortunately, denotes an involution.
Paradoxically, the "new" mode of communication favours communication between individuals exponentially, and the speed of interaction has given rise to the custom (which has become the model) of the rapid (and convenient) consultation of the contents present on the web (without no discernment of the sources) also with the aim, unfortunately, of learning. People consult any resources (not always correct) basically on the web, and the contents are not very articulated because they must be easily readable and in a short time.
Accessing (comfortably and quickly) the sources on the web allows you to distort the self-training process (or self-directed learning or self-learning - self-learning).
The generalised self-learning process can lead to a lowering of the cultural level.
The human factor always arouses particular attention, both in the social sphere for the analysis of behaviours and the more technical area for the assessment of risks related to security in general.
Times are changing, going more and more towards a global ecosystem based on data. We live at the same time both in a real-world and into a virtual one whirlwind data-driven system.
An adequate awareness and an ethical approach regarding what is being accomplished and above all the consequences that may derive from it could, however, constitute a potent preventive tool to reduce the risk for each individual for himself and others. Awareness and ethics are not the "solution", but components of the process on personal data protection.
Ethics and Data Protection have a key role in this context. On one side, Ethics is not just a philosophy, but a real approach to the future; on the other, Data Protection is a challenge to respect each natural person and the information belonging to him or her.
Blockchain and all related concepts, such as smart contracts and independent organisations, are other issues that can change societies and the economy, leading to a revolution in the way interactions occur between people.
This session would be the opportunity to discuss Data Privacy and Protection, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, hoping to carry out important contributions on these topics.
