The Center for Research and Development of the Military University Institute (CIDIUM)/Armed Forces General Staff (EMGFA), Portugal, in partnership with the Institute of International and European Law (IIEL) of the Reykjavík University and the Centre for Security Policy of the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS) of the Norwegian Defence University College (NDUC) is happy to announce the organization of an International Conference on North Atlantic Security and Defense Strategy (NASDS 2021) that will be held in Lisbon on 19-20 May 2022 (early accreditation and icebreaking cocktail on 18 May evening). The event is supported under the Fund for Bilateral Relations/EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 (EEA Grants Portugal).
Perspective scholars, researchers, experts and practitioners, especially from EEA and Arctic countries and EU and NATO member states, are invited to submit their proposals which are expected to contain a high level of novelty able to broaden the debate. The Organization strongly recommend a holistic, interdisciplinary approach, that includes theoretical frameworks and research methods from various sciences, e.g.: history, political science, military and security science, political philosophy, sociology, law, economy.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. Participants are warmly invited to submit a full paper proposal (3-4,000 words) drafted according to APA Style (7th Edition) format guidelines, along with a bio note (100-150 words), by 28 February 2022, on the topics suggested bellow (other topics will be considered). Proposals should be addressed to the organization committee and submitted through https://easychair.org. Authors will be informed of the decision by 15 March 2022. Papers selected for presentation will be included in the conference proceedings published by the IUM with ISSN/ISBN and DOI. There are no costs associated to this call.
