The growing need for more efficient cargo and passenger transport systems and a healthier environment imply a shift of paradigm in mobility, transport and logistics. Intermodal transport takes advantage of the strengths of different transport modes in one integrated transport chain, thereby improving efficiency and economic performance of the system. Enhancement of both network sustainability and resilience is an important criterion to explore trade-offs associated with intermodal freight and passenger transport. However, scientific knowledge needs to be allied with further technical and economic studies in order to overcome barriers such as insufficient interconnectivity, lack of cooperation and competition between the modes, as well as and the need for harmonised security and safety procedures.
This conference aims at bringing together talented researchers and industry practitioners from around the world to discuss and stimulate the exchange of ideas that can address growing congestion and pollution in urban areas worldwide, as well as an improved efficiency in integrated and sustainable Multimodal Transport.
Conference Topics
The conference is a forum for transversal solutions that include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Transport policies
- Multimodal cargo and passenger transport
- Multimodal transport in developing and emerging countries
- Operational research in multimodal transport: simulation, optimization and heuristics
- Changes in methods for freight movement and delivery
- Reducing travel delay
- Human behaviour in transport congestion
- Synchromodality and sustainability
- New technologies for design, construction, operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure
- The use of Big Data for transportation analytics and safety improvements
Submission Guidelines
High quality research contributions describing original and unpublished results of conceptual, constructive, empirical, experimental, or theoretical work in areas related to multimodal cargo and passenger transport networks are cordially invited for presentation at the conference.
Conference Proceedings
To ensure the quality of the publications, all submitted manuscripts will be blind peer reviewed by members of an International Scientific Committee. The conference proceedings will be abstracted and submitted to be indexed in Scopus. All registered participants will receive the conference abstracts and proceedings book, in electronic format.
