About the Workshop
Aim and Target Audience
The term changeability refers to the resilience of an existing system to unforeseen requirements beyond a given flexibility. To achieve a certain degree of changeability in the production context, suitable software and system architectures, methods and models are necessary.
In principle, we consider changeable production systems as socio-technical systems in which people involved in production must be given adequate support, not least because of the higher dynamics. Since we do not consider a transformation of a production system to be fully automatic, corresponding transformation processes must be continuously fed back to the preparatory production planning. The models used and the system architecture should support this.
The workshop addresses researchers and practitioners who are familiar with the topic of "changeable production" from an engineering perspective (e.g. "how does production/production planning/control work today" or "what standards and norms exist in this domain"), but who are still more interested in innovative solutions. The scientific and technical discourse is the main focus of the workshop. From this, a community is to grow, which will further promote open innovation in the scientific and industrial environment.
Background
The organizers work together in the BMBF-funded I4.0 lighthouse project BaSys 4.2. The project is now in its fourth year of funding in the second funding period and aims to develop an open platform for I4.0 applications that is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises. The middleware developed in this course is available as open source software and includes, among other things, the currently first reference implementations of SDKs for administration shells in different programming languages via the Eclipse BaSyx project as well as a service platform for changeable production published on GitHub. The process or production control is based on so-called control components as a logical and uniform abstraction of functions of a (hardware-related) controller from a process point of view, which are addressed either via the administration shell or directly via OPC-UA. The functionality of the software is continuously evaluated and improved in the project by means of demonstrators and independent satellite projects. Close cooperation also exists with the Power4Production Center for Innovative Production Technologies and the (recently completed) BMBF project Hybr-iT ("Hybrid Teams in Versatile, Cyber-Physical Production Environments"), which use the BaSys software for process control.
Venue
The workshop will be held in the context of the annual conference of the (German) Informatics Society (GI), which takes place from 29.09 - 01.10.2020 in the Convention Center in Karlsruhe, Germany. The exact date of the workshop has not been scheduled yet. For further information please visit the conference website.
List of Topics
To realize a changeable socio-technical production system, a holistic view of the Reference Architecture Model Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0) is required. In this workshop, a selection is to be considered that represents a common thread from the device controller to the human being. In particular, the areas of interest are:
- Hardware abstractions for the uniform provision of production relevant capabilities
- Semantic description of capabilities
- Planning approaches for online process control
- Service platforms and multi-agent systems
- Use of administration shells
- Continuous Engineering
- Intelligent, massively multi-modal worker guidance systems
- Hybrid teams, human-robot collaboration and robot-robot collaboration
- Formal description and implementation of partially automated change processes
- Concrete applications of changeable production
- Open Source software for changeable production
