First International Workshop on Multi-Level Business Process Management (MBPM 2018) International Workshop on Multi-Level Business Process Management Located at BPM 2018 Conference in Sydney, Australia. September 10, 2018 In recent years there has been growing interest in the use of multi-level modelling approaches to better represent the multiple classi-fication levels that are frequently found in the real world and are needed to effectively engineer languages. Multi-level modelling approaches have not only been successfully used in numerous in-dustrial projects and standards definition initiatives they are now supported by an array of dedicated tools. However most research efforts so far have mainly addressed the static data modelling part and ignored the dynamic part of information systems captured in business processes. Similar to data models, business processes can also benefit from multiple classification levels and need them to handle the increasing complexity of processes. Goals The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in the management of a hierarchy of knowledge about business processes and to debate the founda-tions of multi-level modelling and how it can be applied on busi-ness processes, discuss challenges in applying multi-level model-ling techniques and share experiences regarding multi-level model-ling tools in respect to BPM. We encourage the submission on new concepts, implementation approaches and formalisms or case-study scenarios. Contributions in the area of tool building, multi-level modelling approaches are equally welcome. Topics Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: • the exact nature of elements in a multi-level hierarchy of processes and how best to represent them, • refine the concept of process instantiation, • the structure and labelling of a multi-level business process modelling framework, • collect and study larger examples of process hierarchies, • methods and technique for discovering hierarchies, speciali-zations and classification relationships among processes, • formal approaches to multi-level process modelling, • experiences and challenges in providing tool support for multi-level process modelling and management, • experiences and challenges in applying multi-level modelling techniques to large and/or real world process problems, • Process model management languages (transformation, code generation etc.) in a multi-level setting, • comparisons of multi-level and two-level solutions for mod-elling problems, • define relationships between process levels, and • analyse combination of imperative and declarative process modelling. Contributions Two kinds of papers are solicited: regu-lar papers (max 10 pages), and position papers (max 5 pages), adhering to the Springer LNBIP style.
