General Guidelines Regarding the Content
- Submitted abstracts should include non-published data.
- Abstracts previously presented will not be accepted.
- All abstracts should be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for the publication.
- The presented work in the abstracts should fall under any of the following tracks:
- Digital Transformation Strategies in Healthcare - Lessons Learned and Roadmaps
- Promoting Connected Care: Standards and Interoperability
- Digital Public Health: Mapping and Building Rapid Responses to Pandemics and Potential Future Health Crises
- Digitizing Population Health Management: Tackling the Incoming Tidal Wave of Chronic Diseases in the Middle East
- Health Data governance: Data-Driven Decision Making to Promote Health Equity
- Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies at the Point of Care
Formatting Guidelines

- Abstracts length should not exceed 2xA4 (TWO A4) pages including : text, tables, figures, title, sections, affiliations, keywords, acknowledgment and references.
- The total number of words keywords is limited to 500 words.
- The font must be in Times New Roman at a size of 11.
- Each abstract should have a title with less than 15 words.
- This is a single-blind submission, the authors' Information should be listed below the abstract title: First Names, Last Names, Affiliations, and country.
- Multiple authors should be separated by commas.
- The first author should always be the author with the highest contribution of the presented work.
- Each author should have a single affiliation only. If multiple authors with different affiliations, each affiliation has to be numbered and indicated right after the corresponding authors’ last names. See the attached example.
- Each abstract should have one corresponding author marked by a STAR sign right before his/her first name.
- Corresponding author should provide an OFFICIAL email as the main method of communication between the conference organizers and the author.
- Keywords are mandatory and should be between 3 and 6 keywords listed right before the first section.
- Any table, figure or bibliography item should be referenced and explained within the text of the main section.
- Below is an example template for submitting the abstract.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Abstracts comprising more than two pages will be rejected.
- Abstracts with missing author names will be rejected.
- Abstracts not passing the plagiarism test will be rejected.
- Figures and tables not referenced within the main sections will be exempt from the evaluation process.
- Bibliography items not referenced within the main sections will be removed.
- Deliberate violation of the guidelines will result in dismissing the submission.
- Please do not exceed the word limit or the page limit stated above.
- Please avoid the use of special international fonts.
- Margins: 2 cm top, bottom, left and right.
- Accepted abstracts must be presented (virtually) at the conference by one of the listed authors during the submission.
Violating of one or more elements of the Formatting Guidelines or the Important Notes stated above will subject the submission to be omitted from the reviewing process.
Abstract Evaluation Process
Each abstract will be evaluated by the scientific committee and the decision to accept or reject the abstract will be final. If accepted, the corresponding author will receive an email stating if the abstract has been accepted for oral or poster presentation. The novelty, impact, clarity and feasibility of the core idea presented in the abstract submission are the major factors for accepting the submitted work followed by the compliance with the submission guidelines.
Publication of Accepted Abstracts
The accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book 2021 for HIMSS Middle East and Computers Programs and Methods in BioMedicine journal. Publication in the abstract book should not preclude later publication of an extended version of the work in another conference or a journal as long as the publication date is later than the publication date of HIMSS Conference.
