LiNE-2026 (Libraries in Next Era) is a two-day National Seminar organized by the Department of Library and Information Science at Kalyani University, centered on the focal theme "Responsible AI in LIS Domain." The event gathers academics, information professionals, and researchers to address the ethical, technical, and operational integration of artificial intelligence into modern library systems.

Submission Guidelines

All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome.

• Full papers describing original research, system designs, case studies, or practical implementations in the field of Responsible AI in the LIS (Library and Information Science) domain.

List of Topics

• AI in Inventory Control: Collection development vs. resource optimization, access vs. ownership, Electronic Resource Management Systems (ERMS), metadata encoding and harvesting, and cloud computing applications.
• AI in Technical Processing: Text retrieval models, full-text extraction, subject and name authority management, multilingual search, Linked Open Data (LOD), Big Data, and GIS applications in library retrieval.
• AI in Library Retrieval and Service Dissemination: Semantic IR, vector space models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), Library Service Platforms (LSP), discovery systems, recommender systems, and service measurement (bibliometrics, webometrics, altmetrics).
• AI in LIS Education: Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), MOOCs, RAG reversing, and relevant national initiatives in LIS education.
• Emerging LIS Topics: Any other innovative applications or theoretical advancements related broadly to the Library and Information Science domain
